3days ago I suffer congestion of nose& ear, pain around eyes&above nose, flu&cough. Maybe sinusitis? But I feared meningitis or any mental disorders?

Mom has viral meningitis, hospitalized. No fever, nomore red spots on knees or red eyes. Still has severe headaches, stiff neck; low white cells. Help?

Ask her doctor: Viral meningitis presents with headache, sometimes sensitivity to light or sound, nausea, vomiting, fever, stiff neck, malaise, sometimes mental changes and the spinal fluid shows findings which are not compatible with bacterial meningitis. Your mom should get better fairly quickly and be back to full health soon, but if you have questions, ask her doctor. ...Read more

Fly like symptoms for 4 days. No very painful head and neck on left side only. Can meningitis present with one sided pain and with no fever?

Not likely: Bacterial meningitis usually progresses rapidly once you have it and is very dangerous. Stiff neck and headache can be associated with any Upper respiratory tract infection. If you had four days of fever and these symptoms it would be more of an issue. Although, it is unlikely meningitis, I would see your doctor for a check up. ...Read more

Fevers off and on a week. Severe back and head pain. Temp hit 103 today. Slept 18 hours. Neck feels like meningitis. Why intermittent fever??

Get seen quick by MD: Fevers happen when "foreign" stuff (bacteria, viruses, malaria) get into the blood stream. If just the cells of an organ are affected, but the infection is NT in the blood, u may not have a fever. Viruses cause low-grade fever (max 101 deg F) but yours sounds worse & more severe. Untreated meningitis is deadly w/i 24 hrs, if that's what u have. It may b smething else, but get seen quickly. Thanks. ...Read more

I have a tender spot on head 9 months post bacterial meningitis. Does this mean anything?

Incomplete data: A 'tender spot" doesn't give much to work with. Where on the head? Flat or raised? Color change of surrounding skin? History of recent bug bite or trauma? This could be as simple as a swollen lymph node from a bug bite, an abscess forming around an infected hair root, a blood pocket from trauma, and more. When you submit a question, the more data you provide the more likely we can help. ...Read more

Temp 37, severe NEW head/neck pain for 6 days, no other symptoms. Don't feel unwell in myself. Have Pseudotumour cerebri. Could this be meningitis?

Probably not meningi: This is probably not meningitis, although it could be theoretically. It could also be influenza for example. Or something similar to meningitis.

The best way to determine if meningitis is present is to look at the cerebrospinal fluid. Although you may not need this test, if you were ill this should be considered. If you are otherwise alright, perhaps a check in to your local medical is good ...Read more

Can meningitis go away? Ii had a stiff neck and fever/headache for a day but feel fine now. Head hurts sometimes though. Or could it be my posture?

Those: Symptoms do not mean meningitis. You have to rule it out by running tests including spinal fluid. I've had a bad cold with fever but the fevers gone. My neck has been hurting and my head is just stopped up. It couldn't be meningitis could it?

Unlikely: Not my area of expertise, but here is what I think: you passed through a viral infection (it is the flu season), it is normal to experience neck lymph node swelling and of course to be congested. A definite diagnosis could only be obtained by a spinal tap (cerebral spinal fluid). An old timers rule of thumb is: can you bend your neck so as to touch your chin to chest? If so, fine. & u are mending! ...Read more
