Hydrocodone or dihydrocodeinone is a semi-synthetic opioid derived from two naturally occurring opiates: Codeine or thebaine. It is an orally active narcotic analgesic and antitussive. Have been taking hydrocodone for ten years due to a car accident. Wouldn't it be safer to just take suboxone instead of six to eight hydros a day?
How long is it supposed to it take for one to develop a dependency on oxycodone and/or hydrocodone?
Depends: The weight range for a 13 yo runs 75-150 lb so dosing by weight is quite difficult without knowing the kids weight. The average kid at ~100 lb could easily handle 400mg every 6 hours as needed.I would not go any higher unless directed by a physician . Any kid with kidney function problems should check with their physician before using this product. ...Read more

For what length of time can it take for kidney damage to appear after a month of solid tyleol pm abuse?
Probably okay: Tylenol (acetaminophen) is an acute liver poison and all the non-steroidal anti-inflammatories can shut down the kidney if you take a big dose and get dried out. Except for phenacetin, which is banned, the toxicity is much more acute than chronic. Please don't go back to overdoing that stuff -- next time you may not be so fortunate. ...Read more
Is it advisable to take five prednisone per day for five days? My sister was prescribed the drug for a persistent cough. Is this safe?
Prednisone dosage: High doses of corticosteroids like prednisone cause serious health problems, but only with prolonged therapy. Five days treatment is entirely safe. How effective it will be is another story, however. Perhaps worth a try, but often has little effect against symptoms of respiratory infection. ...Read more
Steroids: This would depend on the specific steroid and the doses used within the cycle. A single tapering cycle of Prednisone or Medrol (methylprednisolone) is normally is not a problem. I have not seen consecutive taper cycles, but if spaced out appropriately, the second cycle should be no more problematic than the first. As you no doubt know, steroids should be avoided if possible for chronic therapy. ...Read more

How long can a 3 year old use zyrtec (cetirizine) for? Is it safe to use it for few months or longer? Any side effects to look out for?
Is it safe to take zyrtec (cetirizine) most days of the year or is there a chance for long term problems with taking it too much? I try to avoid taking medicines.
Zyrtec (cetirizine) : Zyrtec is a safe anti-histamine with a relatively good tract record in long term users. But note that all medications have side effects. However, some are willing to take a small and smart risk for a better quality of life. Discuss nasal antihistamines & other non-systemic treatments with your doctor. With immunotherapy, an immunologist may be able to help avert your need for medications. ...Read more

What temp is considered a fever in an adult. And how dangerous is it to have one for several days?
98.6, but...: Normal oral temperature for and adult/child is 98.6 f. 36.8 c. It depends where you take the reading: oral is usually one degree f lower than vaginal or anal readings. You are considered to have a fever if above 100f, but i think if you have a fever close to 102-3 for 2 days or more, it is wise to see a physician. If a child has 101 f for a couple of days, keep hydrated (as with adults) & call md. ...Read more
