Lose money: Hi. There's a huge snake oil business scam that gets suckers to buy stuff that does nothing. Case in point, "testosterone boosters". You'll spend your money, and the snake oil salespeople will laugh all the way to the bank! Might I suggest you give that money to a worthy charity, and thereby do the world some good. Good luck! ...Read more

Usually no...: There are a few medicines that can be used in 1 month olds, but never unless your baby's physician is aware and tells you it is ok. You don't want to be hiding things like a fever in this age group - that can signal something very serious. So never try treating symptoms yourself on a 1 month-old. Discuss the symptoms with your pediatrician and then they will let you know if your child needs more. ...Read more

Both: The mutations in the cancer have been accumulating for years, usually decades -- which is why giving up bad habits like smoking doesn't give you instant protection. The visible lesion may pop up in a few weeks -- witness some skin lesions. Why do you ask? If there is a visible lesion that you suspect is malignant, get seen now. Best wishes. ...Read more

Normally when I take plan b I don't bleed, but recently I took plan b and I did. What does that mean? I took multiple in one month.
I accidentally took an expired (18 months ago!) Zyrtec pill. Should I take the correct (unexpired) one nowbad well or should I wait 24 hours?
Wait: Medication can lose it's effectiveness past expiration date, but I would not expect it to not be effective at all; especially if only 18 months expired. It will not be harmful at all that you took an expired zyrtec. It will probably still be almost as effective as it was prior to expiration, so I would just wait and take a new one at your normal time the next day. Hope this helps! ...Read more

My 15 month old son has long frequent night wakings and never slept through night. He takes one good midday nap and goes to bed at the same time?
Sleep routines: All adults & kids wake in the night but most learn to resettle & most don't remember the event. An infant that never learned to start sleep alone is unlikely to do so in the night. Day naps should be limited to no > 2hrs or the kid can flip his day/night pattern. Shaping a bedtime routine that allows baby to unwind, listen to a story, but settle in bed alone can also improve this problem. ...Read more

If one is bitten or scratched by a cat and takes rabies shots after one month, will it be as effective as it would have been if taken within 7 days?
Rabies shots protect: The good news is you will be protected since you did not YET have symptoms of rabies. Of course getting seen and treated is usually better, but since you did not develop rabies, there was still time... rabies has a VARIABLE incubation time- which is some cases is quite long (months). You don't want to be an unlucky case that could be a week or 2. I believe you 'made it though' and you will be fine ...Read more

Possible roseola: If you would like to take your child outside, I get the impression that she is playful despite the high fever. She may be incubating roseola, where kids run a fever for three days and then break out in a rash after the fever breaks. When you go out keep her away from other children. ...Read more

You choose: Your babies brain is adding new connections most rapidly in the first 2 years. We know from cases of fetal alcohol syndrome that there is a direct toxic effect of the breakdown products of alcohol on babies brain, (formaldehyde is one byproduct), so any alcohol that gets to baby may produce some harm.
