Left hand numbness + sharp pain. Sign of early pregnancy? Carpel tunnel? Am I pregnant? Help!

Left hand numbness + sharp pain. Sign of early pregnancy? Carpel tunnel? Am I pregnant? Help!

Doubt pregnancy: Could be carpel tunnel. That usually has a repitive motion history. Numbness usually. Means a nerve that has pressure on it. Different nerves got to various parts of the hand. Pressure at the elbow or wrist can caused hand numbness. I have not seen that associated. With pregnancy.

Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Why do my hands get numb in pregnancy?

Why do my hands get numb in pregnancy?

Swelling!: When you double your blood volume in pregnancy, there is a lot of swelling. Some you see and some you don't. Swelling around the nerves in your wrist and elbow can squeeze the nerves. It is a temporary problem but really frustrating and it can be painful. Splints at night can sometimes help. It will resolved after pregnancy but may take a few weeks.

I get numb spots on the middle of my back that I think are pinched nerves from my pregnancy its been eight months will they ever heal?

I get numb spots on the middle of my back that I think are pinched nerves from my pregnancy its been eight months will they ever heal?

Very Likely: If they are a result of pinched nerve then they should heal. However, nerve grow back very slowly (about 1mm/day) and they may take time to recover. Things like diabetes or smoking will slow this healing dramatically and should be avoided.

My arms are going numb and tingling a lot. I'm 21 weeks and I had this with my first two pregnancies. What causes it?

Arm numbness: Sounds like carpel tunnel syndrome. It is fairly common in pregnancy due to swelling in the hands. It is caused by compression of a nerve as it passes from the wrist into the hand. Often worse in the dominant hand but can be in both hands. Can wake you up at night when the hands feel like they are "asleep". Will likely go away after delivery. Try wearing thumb spica splints at night.

What would make my left arm go numb during pregnancy. I'm 30 weeks pregnant.?

What would make my left arm go numb during pregnancy. I'm 30 weeks pregnant.?

Carpal tunnel: Fluid changes during pregnancy can produce nerve compression at the wrist c/w cts, which is benign and usually is gone a few days after l & d. Persistent numbness could be associated with nerve pinching at the elbow, disc problems in the neck, thoracic outlet syndrome. But rarely left arm problems can be heart associated (quite unusual at your age.).

Evaluation: You need to be evaluated right away. This could be due to a migraine but could also be the symptoms of a stoke. Please get evaluated as soon as possible.

I am 28 weeks pregnant. My hand goes numb a lot! Should I worry? It never happened before my pregnancy unless I was sleeping on it. It happens all day now.

See doctor.: This can be from swelling from pregnancy, and may be precipitation of carpal tunnel syndrome. You need an exam by your physician. If it is carpal tunnel syndrome and you have problems moving your fingers or using your hand, then you may need more urgent treatment, even a surgery.

Why does under my right rib feel numb, burning and tingling and painful from pregnancy? What is causing this? Is it the baby or uterus? I'm 34 weeks.

Normal...: It is common to have some skin numbness and tingling of the belly during the third trimester - it is related to the stretching of the skin (and the nerves in the skin). This should resolve over time after delivery. If the pain is extreme or there are any other symptoms, be sure to notify your OB. Congratulations!

Podiatrist: Pregnant women often complain of feet pain. Consider changing shoes. Tennis shoes or shoes with good arch support are often more comfortable. A podiatrist can evaluate your feet for you to make sure nothing else is going on.

Can preganacy cause numbness in arm and side face also around lips and nose? Had MRI mra CT EEG all normal. Ob and neuro send me to eachother. Worried

Can preganacy cause numbness in arm and side face also around lips and nose? Had MRI mra CT EEG all normal. Ob and neuro send me to eachother. Worried

Being Pregnant: I would say that yes, this is normal. There is a lot more blood flowing in your arteries and heart and pregnancy is tough on the body. I remember my wife had several occasional odd symptoms like this. If both the neurologist and the OB have found nothing bad in their evaluations of you then breathe, relax and worry a bit less if you can.

Ultrasound and exam: This could simply be a muscular issue, but with the location and the numbness, I feel like this needs further evaluation. An appropriate exam would likely include not only an ultrasound to rule out a blood clot but also a good hands on physical exam of pulses in both feet and evaluation of sensation in feet. Hope this helps.
