Doxycycline effects: Nausea, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea and sometimes vomiting are common side effects of taking doxycycline. Oftentimes, these symptoms disappear as you continue taking the antibiotic for the prescribed duration of treatment. Which is the most common/effective Antibiotics do you use for Bronchitis with no fever. I have used Doxycycline 100 mg but with no help.

Bronchitis: If you are treating acute bronchitis antibiotics will seldom help since >95% of cases are viral or environmental. Are you sure this is bronchitis? The major bacterial causes of bronchitis are exacerbations of chronic disease or acutely, adult pertussis, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, pneumococcus and Hemophilus but the latter groups are very infrequent. Having Zinc Acetate & Doxycycline-LB tabs, 1.5 hours after meal, for acne. Have severe nausea & discomfort after having tabs, for 10-15 mins. Advice?

Yes: Get yourself onto a better acne regimen. Stop taking the zinc; it's generally bad for you, probably won't touch your acne, and it's probably making you sick. That leaves you on just tetracycline, and you must not take just an antibiotic for acne. Add topical benzoyl peroxide. If the tetracycline makes you sick, or this doesn't help, consider isotretinoin if severe and/or a different regimen. ...Read more

What are effective antibiotics for Lyme other than Doxycycline?

What are effective antibiotics for Lyme other than Doxycycline?

Many choices: Many other antbiotics can treat Lyme including amoxicillin, IM penicillin, oral & IV cephalosporins & Telithromycin. All these can be very helpful in Lyme of recent onset but become less & less effective the longer one has had it.
I find herbs & nutritional supplements more effective in chronic Lyme.

Can taking doxycycline 100 twice a day for month cause tongue candida and I stopped antibiotic 10 days ago and the problem steel exists please help?

Yes - Antibiotic SEs: It certainly can. If you can get some fluconazole that should wipe it out. Generally we start with 200 mg on the first day (2 pills of 100mg), then 100 mg pills once a day for a week to 13 days more. That should wipe it out easily. Show it to a doc if you have concerns. If you're on other meds you should check with a doc too about drug interactions with fluconazole. ...Read more

Maybe none...: If doxycycline didn't clear it up, it is unlikely that any other antibiotic will do so. Most prostatitis isn't an infection; antibiotics usually are tried but often don't help. Return to the doctor or clinic who prescribed treatment. If in doubt about doctor's expertise, you won't go wrong with one of your country's excellent NHS genitourinary medicine (GUM) clinics.
