Is it safe to take 10 mg melatonin and 50 mg diphenhydramine HCl an hour before bed almost every night? I have trouble getting to sleep most nights.

No good data: Melatonin is from the brains of many dead animals, who really knows their health status or if they were infected with some strange virus? Agriculture is far from hygienic. Not considered safe: Authorities widely caution against it saying it "may increase risk of developmental disorders." no one knows for sure becuase no one gives meds to pregnant women to see what happens but it is best to not take any chances. Those medicines are safe together and should not interfere with each other. Most people use between 1 to 5 milligrams of melatonin at a time. I normally recommend people start with 1 milligram. Be careful you are not too sleepy the next morning after using melatonin.
