Pregnancy (Definition)

When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more

Is Mederma for scars safe during pregnancy? Active ingredient is allantoin 0.5 %

No data.: Mederma has never been tested on pregnant women, to my knowledge, so there is no data one way or the other. My standard advice for anyone who is pregnant is, if it's not essential, don't use it until you deliver the baby. Why take unnecessary chances? ...Read more

Helpchichen pox scars: what are the home remedies i can use to make it fade..And also will Mederma work?

Laser: You may see the most improvement with laser therapy. Even with new wounds, mederma and most topical treatments for scars have been shown to have no improvement on normal wound healing, (but it won't hurt.) vit e and massage have some very week evidence of benefit. Protection from the sun is the thing that has shown the most benefit- use and reapply good sunblock during the first year of healing. ...Read more

Mederma? Not for you: You certainly can try using mederma however it will likely be ineffective in this particular scenario. Based on the symptoms you have described there is an underlying irritation that is interfering with healing. The raised, thick lesion is a better treated with either serial steroid injections or scar revision. Best, kc. ...Read more

Silicone best: Absolutely. Silicone gel products work much better than mederma in my opinion and are just as easy to use. If you can't use the silicone sheets 24/7 then use a silicone gel product during the day and silicone sheets at night. ...Read more

I have a scar above my eye, Now they removed and its about 2 week ago. What should I do to make the scar dissapear? Should I use mederma??

Too soon, leave it.: If the scar was just removed, two weeks is too soon for wound healing to be complete and the residual inflammation and pigmentation to fade. Give it time before applying anything to the area of scar removal. Avoid the sun as that can cause permanently increased pigmentation during the wound healing phase. New incisions often take 3 months to fade from view. ...Read more

Can you tell me if I use Mederma on my face for acne scars will it make my face itchy red and iritated?

Can you tell me if I use Mederma on my face for acne scars will it make my face itchy red and iritated?

Usually not: Me-derma and silicone gel applications are usually soothing due to increased moisture retained at site. The sites do have to be cleaned prior to application however. It may help decrease the redness of the acne scar sites, but will not do anything to reduce or remove them. Often used after facial surgery to reduce noticeability of scarring. ...Read more
