Need more info: "chronic" lyme disease is difficult to diagnose because isolation of the organism has not been effected and the serologic tests used can be misinterpreted. Interesting question: Lyme disease has wide distribution in the USA but I am not aware of it being prevalent in the UK. I have been in practice for 50 years and have treated many patients who are world travelers without any of them coming back from the UK with Lyme disease.
