Similar but: Both cause very sore throat with swelling and fever. Both can be diagnosed readily with a rapid test. Mono rapid test is less accurate. Mono significant systemic symptoms such as fatigue, sleepiness, nausea, and the swelling tends to be more severe and more dramatic appearing. Strep gets better much faster and does justify antibiotics in children and teens. http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/strep-throat/basics/symptoms/con-http://www.pennmedicine.org/encyclopedia/em_PrintArticle.aspx?gcid=000591 ...Read moreGet help from a doctor now ›
