What to do if i'm on a liquid diet of meal replacement shakes (morning (hungry). Is this healthy way to diet?

What to do if i'm on a liquid diet of meal replacement shakes (morning (hungry). Is this healthy way to diet?

Depends: if it is your usual food liquified, obviously you'll get the same results as regularly eating. if it is just water and you skip ONE meal a day.. not very bad generally and MIGHT lose a little weight. Depends on if the liquid is full nutrition. Generally changing diet temporarily lowers intake https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1775472781/devils-diet covers this and other topics humorously ...Read more

Diet: Yes you could the question would be why. You do not need to do this. This sounds like a new years goal to get healthier and lose weight. Liquid diet would be as efficient as a normal healthy balanced diet. IMO no need for the liquid part for 20 days. Cheers C ...Read more

What would be appropriate liquid diet supplement drink to loose weight?

What would be appropriate liquid diet supplement drink to loose weight?

Protein shake: Replacing one meal a day with a protein ("meal replacement") shake can be acceptable to help with weight loss. However, you still need to consume healthy foods with iron, folate, (folic acid) vitamin a, d, b1-6, etc. The best would be a whey based protein shake that is low in sugar (less than 5 grams per serving), low in carbs, and high in protein (20+ grams of protein per shake). ...Read more

For problems with inadequate peristalsis (nonspecific neuromuscular problem), is a liquid diet good? Can liquify fruits, veggies, tofu for p.M. Meal

Depends: Liquids tend to be easier to digest (as they are pre-digested down), but some neuromuscular problems are due in part to low vitamin B12 levels, and since B12 is in low quantity in vegetarian and especially vegan diets, it would be important to include this important nutrient. Medium-chain triglycerides and Amino Acids might also play a role in supplementation for such a liquid diet. ...Read more

Is there any known adverse effects for taking protein powder (whey, casein)? I usually drink one or two a day between meals, not as a meal replacement

Minimal: Whey protein isolates are generally very safe to ingest. There is a potential for some abdominal distress if you take too much at once, but this is rather rare. Assuming you have no other medical issues that would preclude you from processing protein, you should be just fine. ...Read more

I want to drink 18 shake luxury meal replacement, it has ascorbic acid vitamin c 18 mg 30 % day value, I take the instant release Adderall two times a day, will this protein 18 shake with vitamins especially c make my adderrall less effective?

Gastrointestinal : acidifying agents like ascorbic acid decrease the absorption, &, therefore, the blood level & clinical effect of Adderall, Adderall XR & Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine). See www.drugs.com/cdi/adderall-xr-extended-release-capsules.html. Always tell your doctor before taking new medications, herbs, vitamins & supplements. Long-acting Adderall XR or Vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine) are easier to dose/ titrate & generally have less "rebound" effect. ...Read more

Would going on a liquid diet help with reflux if regular dietary restrictions aren't sufficient?

Not a long term plan: You're right--the stomach empties liquids faster than solids, so there is less to "reflux" on a liquid diet. Seriously, how long do you think you can stay on a liquid diet, nor is it wise from a nutritional perspective in an otherwise normally-functioning gut. If gerd has been confirmed (dysmotility, heart, chest, lung, other diseases considered & ruled out) why not try an acid-blocker in low dose? ...Read more

Gastric sleeve: Your doctor is being cautious. Your doctor does not want your surgical area to over-stretch from food or from rapid ingestion. If you overstretch too soon, then the surgical area may separate. The caution is good. ...Read more

I just got released from the hospital two days ago for Pancreatitis. I am on a liquid diet and seem to be retaining water, is this normal?

Normal or Healthy?: Very different issues. Normal = common; many common behaviors = quite unhealthy: http://goo.gl/Blh6rW. Humans are water based creatures (generally >50 to <62% water), yet to much/too little unhealthy & can become fatal. Water retention from pancreatitis not likely unless lots of damaged pancreas tissue. Pancreatitis typically from ? triglycerides & LFHC foods http://goo.gl/H7mItd; Avoid for LCHF. ...Read more
