Is liquid diet drink adequate replacement for one of 2 meals per day?

Is liquid diet drink adequate replacement for one of 2 meals per day?

In a way: The drinks or shakes are formulated to satisfy your hunger, give you energy, and prevent protein malnutrition. However, the idea behind diet drinks or shakes is to lower the total amount of calories that you ingest per day thus allowing you to lose weight. They are replacing meals but not completely (calories). ...Read more

T1 diabetic with good sugar control. What is the max amount of water you should drink per day ? Been drinking about a gallon per day to stay healthy.

Water intake: Hi. There is a lot of opinion stated as fact regarding water intake. Most of everything you drink is water (juice, milk, beer, soda, whatever; exception-distilled liquor). As a type 1, you should avoid sweet drinks unless you're treating a low. Drink enough to not be dehydrated! Varies with ambient temp, humidity, and activity level. Try to keep urine clear to light; darker urine = need more H2O. ...Read more

Gave up diet soda a year ago. I drink 2-3 liters of water daily plus 2 Vitamin Water Zero daily with lunch one & dinner for flavor. Safe choice?

I think this sounds: pretty good. Vitamin Water Zero passes a lot of nutritional tests: it is calorie free, has no artificial sweeteners (sweetened with Trulia and fructose) and no artificial dyes. You are getting 200% of the vitamin C recommended daily value (100% in each 8 oz), but close to 100% of a handful of B vitamins and a boost for a few more. Total fluid intake: about 84 to 118 oz daily..generous but ok:) ...Read more

I've recently started drinking plenty of water (8 - 12 glasses of water daily), 1- 2 oatmeals daily, a sandwich or pasta for dinner. Is that healthy?

Eat a balanced diet: The amount of water you drink is dictated by thirst. You do not need to drink more than 4-5 glasseswater/day...Anything over will only make you run to urinals. As for food get a good balance between starches(carbohydertes), proteins and fat.. The goal is to have a healthy weight and get adequate amount of proteins, besides starches and pasta. The sources of proteins are eggs/ nuts/, soy/tofu/fish. ...Read more

Is it safe to drink around 3 cups of liquid at one time/all at once on a daily, long term basis? The drinks consist of veggie smoothies.

Please Clarify: I am not sure what you are asking. Most humans drink more than three cups of liquids daily. Now on to veggie smoothies. Three cups of veggie smoothie surely seems like a lot of carbohydrate or sugar calories to ingest on a daily basis. If you are obese or in any way prone to diabetes this would not sound like a wise choice. ...Read more

I drink 2 to 4 liters of (caffeine-free) diet soda each day as my primary/sole source of liquid in take. Is this a dangerous or unhealthy choice?

I drink 2 to 4 liters of (caffeine-free) diet soda each day as my primary/sole source of liquid in take. Is this a dangerous or unhealthy choice?

See previous answer: It could be a healthy choice depending on what your other choices might be. Drinking beer? Much better. Drinking water? Not so much. Drinking sugar sweetened soda? Way too many calories in 2 liters of soda. I would consider this amount of soda, juice, coffee or milk excessive. Moderation in all things. ...Read more

Usually no problem: One liter should do the job also. Two liters should not be a problem either. However, it does not affect bronchiectasis. Check with your lung doc about bronchiectasis. Maybe you need inhaled tobramycin or a ct? ...Read more

For a 16YR OLD MALE taking 120mg Orlistat TDS what is the minimum amount of calories to b consumed given a diet of 55% carbs, 30% protein 15% fat.

Depends on weight .: activity level and maturity rating, as your body may still be growing, and to limit vital nutrients can have long term problems. I would suggest a minimum of 1500 cal/day, but supplement with multivitamin. Focus on vegetables, lean meats, fat free dairy and fruits and limit sugars &"white carbs" such as white rice, pasta, white bread. ...Read more

Is 16 oz. Of electrolyte fluid, and 112 oz. Of water in a day unhealthy? Diet instructions given by medi weight loss doctor

Depends on solution: The content of the "electrolyte fluid" is the key to answering the question. Your daily requirements for fluid losses are exceeded by this volume, but quite acceptable if you have normal kidney function. The fluid should contain at least the daily requirements for sodium and potassium, and ideally would include additional additives (such as magnesium) in appropriate amounts. ...Read more

Is there a risk of replacing milk with buttermilk. Liver problem or something (i drink 1 liter per day for breakfast and snack). It reduced my acne ?

Saturated fat: The main concern with taking 1 liter of milk or buttermilk daily is the amount of saturated fat that is included. Am going on a diet. One meal a day to loose weight. In 3 days I lost 10 pounds. With lots of 0 calories of vitamin water. Is this healthy?

Weight loss: Weight loss as described above is not particularly healthy nor sustainable. Most guidelines say that caloric intake for men should not fall below 1500 calories per day. The optimum number of meals is a matter of dispute in the literature, but that they should be nutritious is not. Drinking water is generally a positive in weight loss. Most sources say that losing 1-2 lbs/week is a good goal. ...Read more

How good is pomegranate juice for you versus the amount of sugar per 8 oz cup/glass?

How good is pomegranate juice for you versus the amount of sugar per 8 oz cup/glass?

Be wary: Most fruit juices are just sugary beverages, providing extra calories — all from refined carbohydrates — without sating appetite. And this is true whether you drink apple or orange juice or one of the fancy new juices like acai berry or pomegranate juice. The added calories can contribute to weight gain and increased risk of both diabetes and heart disease. ...Read more
