Five month old stooling four times a day. He is at 60% for weight and 90% for height, no apparent weight problems. Could this be malabsorption?

May be normal: If your baby is breastfeeding, four stools daily is entirely normal. If on formula, this may still be normal. If the stools are odorous and loose, it may suggest a lactose intolerance if he/she is on a dairy-based formula, however. In any case it does not sound like malabsorption as his growth is entirely appropriate at this time. Do talk to your doctor about your concerns. ...Read more

Is it normal for baby to gain more than 1 kg per month with breastfeeding? Or To be above 6 kg for 2 month old baby, (birth weight 3670 gr)

Healthy wt gain.: Ideally, an infant should gain a minimum of 200 grms or about 7 oz a week, but weight gain more than that is common, especially with breast feeding but can also be seen with formula feeding. An infant with BW 3.67 kg would be expected to be more vigorous with feeding and you are providing ample nourishment. Weight gain will often slow down after 9 months, so current weight over 6 kg is ok. ...Read more

It can be...: Without any other symptoms or information, this is likely normal. So as the body changes/matures, the body fat (aka adipose) distribution may also change. If you're worried, though, go see your doctor, they can help. ...Read more

This definitely: qualifies as a "yes" response to "Have you had any change in bowel habits?" and in an individual, male or female, your age should trigger a colon examination ... I would say a colonoscopy...even though you have no other accompanying symptoms. Please discuss with your physician as soon as you can and plan for this test. Good wishes:) ...Read more

Take charge here: Please talk with your physician. If you are a vegetarian, you need to supplement. Despite all the disinformation from the "vegetarian community", it is difficult to get adequate iron, calcium, iodine, vitamin A, vitamin D, calcium, zinc, and vitamin B12. What's considered yoyo dieting? My weight ranges 3-4 kilos depending on metabolism or anxiety. Is that a normal fluctuation ?
