Help him get to slee: First address sleep hygiene issues, making sure he gets in bed with lights down, television, cell phone and radio off. Additionally try some warm mild before bed (loaded with serotonin that will promote sleep. If he snores loudly, he may need a sleep study and his tonsils/adenoids evaluated. Restless Legs: Some people experience Restless Legs Syndrome. It is an interesting but unpleasant clinical illness. Many things make it worse (alcohol, certain meds), some things seem to possible even cause it (low ferritin), and there are treatments available. Buproprion: Buproprion is not a first line agent for anxiety. It is often prescribed for depression with fatigue. If not taken first thing in the am it can cause restlessness and insomnia. You can take buspar (buspirone) for anxiety on an as needed basis. But it doesnt take the place of a daily antidepressant.
