I just took 1 500mg Tylenol PM and about an hour later I took 30mL of NyQuil. Am I at any serious health risk. It's the only time I've done so.
It depends on when you had your last dosage, the current state of your liver, and the number of milligrams you took. 4 Grams within 24 hours is concerning. If you feel weak, nauseous, and have abdominal pain you should definitely get yourself

I drank a beer and a bit of fireball at about 10/10:30, and took 2 Tylenol pm at 12:30, am I going to have to go to the doctor?
Fireball whiskey: Drinks? Don't have any idea of how much liquor you drank? Are you feeling ill in any manner? If you drank one 12 ounce beer & 1 shot of whiskey- then took 2 tylenol than you will likely be fine. Did you drink massive amounts of alcohol? Yes: Usually, there is no interaction with famotidine and nyquil or tylenol (acetaminophen) PM. NO: You are having either drug resistance to medication or an improbable case of chronic insomnia. I suggest a sleep study to rule out obstructive sleep apnea. I have been taking over-the-counter sleeping pills and I have to take 4 to 5 times the dose what is going on I have been taking melatonin, tylenol (acetaminophen) pm, sominex
Insomnia isn't much fun. So first things first- no naps, no late night eating or water drinking to wake you up to urinate and give you heartburn. Exercise every day so you are tired. Don't drink alcohol at night! It breaks down into chemicals in about six hours that both wake you up and make you urinate. Bad plan. Your bedroom should be a place to sleep, not a place to surf on your computer, watch tv and eat snacks. Put a little tape over all your tiny lights so the room is dark and keep it cool. Keep regular sleeping hours.
Any otc medication that says "pm"- be it advil pm, tylenol (acetaminophen) pm etc has the medication Diphenhydramine or good ol' Benadryl and that antihistamine gives you a dry mouth and you feel rotten in the morning. Don't take more than 25 mg of Benadryl to sleep. Look at the labels- they are all the same. Melatonin is a supplement that some folks like but more isn't better.
If you are doing all the above things right- and you aren't depressed or sad or anxious (which is a whole different story) then consider seeing a doctor who specializes in sleep. But most insomniacs don't have good sleep hygiene so they don't sleep well because their room is hot, lit up and they keep drinking wine at night. All great ways to lose sleep. Good luck. ...Read more
70 year old male going to have cataract surgery in 10 days and told he can take Tylenol (acetaminophen) for unrelated joint pain. Can he take Tylenol (acetaminophen) PM instead? He has trouble sleeping with the pain.
Talk to your doctor: Tylenol PM has acetaminophen and diphenhydramine (benadryl). Benadryl has historically been prescribed for sleep. Some people tolerate this well with good sleep. Some people experience excitation and insomnia. Long term use of this drug in the elderly can cause memory impairment and is not generally recommended. Talk to your doctor about alternatives for treatment of your insomnia. Best wishes! ...Read more
