Could the daily use of metformin cause a dry cough?

Could the daily use of metformin cause a dry cough?

Not likelly: A cough is not a reported side effect of metformin. Patients with diabetes are often taking blood pressure medications in the group called ace inhibitors; these often cause a dry cough, so if you are taking one of these medications it is likely that it may be causing your cough rather than the metformin.

I have been having a combination of a wet and dry cough. I now have a swollen gland is it possible that coughing can cause this?

Swollen gland: The swollen gland is probably a lymph node caused by the bacteria or virus that caused the cough and cold in the first place. Most of these swollen glands will resolve over time. If it does not resolve in a few weeks or if you have any night sweats you should see you doctor. I hope you feel better soon. Good luck! Hope this helped.

Yes it can/something: We know house dust can cause cough and even asthma. But it can be due to something else like allergies, infections etc. And if it persists and keep happening time and again, then it needs to be checked and evauated by your doctor but if it is only one time occurence than nothing needs to be done

Can constant postnasal drip cause dry cough and chest problems?

Postnasal Drip: Every day, glands in the linings of your nose make about a quart of mucus each day. The excess can come out of the nostrils -- that’s a runny nose. I have had a bad dry cough for about 6 weeks now. Haven't gone to the doctor because honestly there is not much they can do. What could cause this?

Medical visit: Not much they can do? Really? I think you are mistaken. You will need an examination and an xray. You may need evaluation for allergies, asthma, GERD or systemic illness. You are asking for a diagnosis, but do not want to see a physician? - Really? - I think you have a misconception of this website. Get examined- 6 weeks is actually worrisome.
