Are you still able to stand and walk with a broken toe?

Are you still able to stand and walk with a broken toe?

Sometimes yes & : Sometimes no. That is why this is not a good gauge to determine if a toe is fractured. A medical evaluation with x-ray can determine if the toe is broken. A podiatrist or orthopedic surgeon would be able to give you specific treatment recommendations and to advise of recommended limitations. ...Read more

How should I walk so that i can avoid further damage to my broken toe?

How should I walk so that i can avoid further damage to my broken toe?

Protect the toe: Medical supply stores may carry shoes that offload the forefoot. The weight when you walk should be taken up by the heel. A shoe with a stiff sole may also be helpful. I would recommend seeing a podiatrist. They can ensure that the broken bone heals correctly. ...Read more

Do i need crutches for my broken toe. It is Slightly displaced and I can't walk on it.

No: Buddy tape it to the adjacent toe and wear a hard shoe that doesn't bend at the toes for support. Follow up with your GP for X-Rays if not better in a few days. http://www.webmd.com/a-to-z-guides/tc/broken-toe-topic-overview ...Read more

See doc, get X-ray: What you know is that your injured your pinky toe, but until you get an xray, you don't know if your broke the toe or any other part of the foot. This can include the long bone behind the pinky toe. You need to get your foot examined, see a foot and ankle specialist. The sooner you get it checked the quicker you can be treated and get back to full mobility. ...Read more

I had a toe fracture when i was 11. I'm 27 now and when i walk I am getting pain on my fractured area. Could they be related?

Possibly: Depending on the toe the fracture could have healed in a slightly deformed position causing early arthritis in the joint in the toe. Going to see a doctor to get an x-ray of the foot could possibly show this. If this is truly painful a fusion of the joint may be required to remove this pain. ...Read more

I had a displaced fifth toe fracture 3 days ago reduced with buddy taping. I cant hang my foot down, results in severe pain. How should i walk?

Not my buddy: Since you mention displaced fracture and buddy taping, it sounds like it has already been examined, x-rayed and splinted by a pro. If not, do it. When a bone breaks blood to the bone increases, increasing the pressure. When you hang it down, the pressure increases more. That increases pain. Elevate it. The taping may be slowing the blood out of toe increasing pain. Adjust it. Use fx shoe, crutch. ...Read more
