Is It Safe To Use Vicks Vapor Rub On A Baby
Baby vicks: There is a special formulation for babies and kiddos. Try putting it on the bottoms of their feet and then putting on thin socks so they don't get it everywhere. There is also a nice night-light/vaporizer that uses little medicated pads to spread the vapors around the room. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Age ??: Early infancy is marked by marked sensitivity to irritants ; dependence on narrow nasal passages for breathing. Later childhood employs mouth breathing to bypass much of the congestion. I hate vicks steam; consider it air pollution. A lifestyle audit to eliminate any odors/irritants in a kids sleeping area + humidity or steam as long as the measured humidity. ...Read more
My 3 mth old baby has the flu and it is not going away with jus nasal drops and vapor rub..is tussadryl safe to use?
I don't advise it : Although a common part of many parents medicine chest, I do not advise the use of vapor rub or similar products on any infant under six months(especially premi's). Any fume or fragrance producing product can lead to excessive internal nasal swelling & congestion of the young infant & increased breathing difficulty. The older infant & child can mouth breathe & bypass this effect. ...Read more

And i'm still here, so i suppose it's okay. Whether or not it actually helped, or just made my mom feel better, is another question. I think the menthol probably does help, at least a little. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Neonate: This will probably not do your baby any harm, but cannot find definitive articles on the issue. My advice would be to not give your newborn anything that you are not absolutely sure will not harm them before checking with your doctor. Good luck, ...Read more
Not on skin: I wouldn't advise putting full strength vicks on the baby's skin, but it would be ok to use it on the clothing. You might do better to use the tablets that dissolve in the shower, and sit with your baby in the steamy bathroom with the shower running and do a 'sauna treatment' if the baby is congested. You can also use any way to increase humidity in the home, like a humidifier. Clean daily! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I used Vicks baby vapor rub on my 2 month old chest, then realized the box said 3 months! Will he be okay? I used a very little.
My baby has a bad cough that won't let her sleep. I put vapor rub on her chest and have a cool mist humidifier on for her. Any suggestions?
Needs investigation: Chronic cough in a young child that is waking them up needs investigation. If it is not an infection, it could be an inhaled foreign body (i've seen toy parts, foods, etc). Also, high on the list is also environmental irritants such as smoke, dust, molds and then allergens causing the cough. One of the most frequent symptoms of early asthma in tots is that ongoing night cough! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
