Ear wax stuck in ear? I took a shower last night and I still have some sort of water/wax buildup impairing my hearing in my left ear. I tried dropping rubbing alcohol in it and using an expired tube of debrox, but no luck, yet also no physical pain.
As: As long as you have no history of eardrum perforation, the simplest thing to do is buy a baby bulb syringe, fill it with luke warm water, and self-irrigate the ear in a dependent position. This usually works after the wax has been softened by a cerumenolytic medication (debrox). If this doesn't work have your pcp or ENT physician take a look. ...Read more
Is it safe to use rubbing alcohol on my face for acne while pregnant. I have been using it a few times a week but now I'm worried it may cause problem?
Shouldn't: As a general rule no liquid/lotion/ointment you put on your skin has anything absorbed to a degree it would enter the blood. If it doesn't enter the blood it can't get to baby. Rubbing alcohol is a drying agent and I can't see how it would benefit anyone with acne. Some use it as a mild cleanser & then moisturize. ...Read more

Chemicals/pregnant: Air out the room or go into another room, a single episode for a short period should not be an issue. For the future get some N-99 particle masks at home depot and ventilate to room (open window, fan) or have someone else do this if occurs regularly (hopefully it will not happen again-). Don't worry. ...Read more
I am 9 weeks pregnant and have poison ivy all over my arms and legs. Is it safe to apply rubbing alcohol 91% to the affected areas?
Ineffective: This will not help the itching or rash, and it is likely to cause a lot of pain. Poison ivy reactions are to the oil of the plant's leaves. A few products, like Zanfel, claim to bind the oil. It's not absorbed internally, so it's likely safe in pregnancy. Topical steroids can help too, without harming the baby. See a doctor for evaluation and a prescription. But please don't use the alcohol. ...Read more

First, the temper change and sensation on nerve endings in your skin can help muscles relax. Second, the alcohol acts as a varying lubricant on your skin that changes through out the massage that allows different pressure. Hope this helps! ...Read more
