Take spironolactone, phentermine, one a day mutli vit-minerals (with 13% mg) and vit D3 daily. Can I add magnesium supplement to my diet for my migrain?

NO: You can not overdose on magnesium if your kidneys are normal as the excess will be removed in urine or stool as magnesium causes diarrhea.
Since you take Phentermine which can increase heart rate and cause arrythmias the concomitant use of magnesium has potential to cause harm as high level of magnesium can affect heart rate.
Stop your Phentermine and then you can take magnesium supplements. ...Read more

Is it safe to take levothyroxine50mg, adipex37.5mg, vitamin b complex, c & e, magnesium & iodine supplements in morning? I'm on atenolol25mg @ night?

Safe not advisable: Taking all those medicines together is probably safe but not advisable. Levothuroxine has to be taken on an empty stomach with a glass of water and no bother meds. This means an hour before or 2 hour after a meal. Food and other meds affect absorption. Vitamins and minerals best absorbed with food. Adipex should be taken with a meal I believe. ...Read more

I take 75 Synthroid (thyroxine) after a thyroidectomy. Would an iodine supplement help? How would I know if I were iodine deficient?

Iodine not needed: The primary organ that uses iodine is the thyroid. If your thyroid is removed, then an iodine supplement will not be of use. In addition, there is a lot of iodine in a normal diet. It is very hard to become iodine deficient in all but a handful of remote regions of the world. ...Read more

My prenatal vits don't have iodine as supplement. I have hashimoto's thyroiditis. I take levothyroxine. Should I also take iodine supplements? How much?

Don't bother: Hi. No one in America is iodine deficient. Then, on top of that, you're hypothyroid! You need a healthy, functioning thyroid gland to use iodine to make thyroid hormone...which you ain't got! You are TAKING, not making, your thyroid hormone. Take your l-thyroxine and don't worry. ...Read more

My TSH levels are 4.67.My prenatal vitamins don't have iodine. Can I take iodine supplements along with levothyroxine? Or levothyroxine is sufficient?

Not iodine deficient: Hi. No one in America is iodine deficient. If you're hypothyroid, it's because of autoimmune destruction of the gland (assuming you haven't had thyroid surgery). Giving more iodine when you're already replete will not help. Is that TSH on l-thyroxine? You need a dose increase if it is. Take your l-thyroxine, and don't worry about the iodine. Good luck! ...Read more

Hypothryroid: By definition you are hypothyroid, though it would be useful to know your levels of free T3 (liothyronine) & free t4. However, the most important question is if you have symptoms of hypothyroidism- see http://www. Stopthethyroidmadness. Com/long-and-pathetic/
iodine is usually fine but you will likely benefit from taking thyroid if you are symptomatic. ...Read more

Clinically diagnosed Hkpp. On 80meq of K & 200mg spirolactone. Levels 4.5-4.8 and with no supplements im 3.5-3.8. Is it possible to go HYPER?

Why: Why do you have such profound hypokalemia that you need so much of Aldactone and K supplements. If your kidney function is normal, it is uncommon to develop high K, but not impossible when you are on such high dose of Aldactone (spironolactone). You should get answers as why you have low K and get your K checked ever so often while on mediations. You should consider seeing a Kidney doc if not have ...Read more

Do iodine supplements really help with hypothyroidism?

Do iodine supplements really help with hypothyroidism?

Yes: As many people have started using sea salt, we have created a relative deficiency in iodine in many people. Random urinary iodine levels can be checked to determine levels, and I have found several patients to be deficient. Without enough iodine, your thyroid (and many other organs) cannot work effectively. Get checked. If you are low, start supplementing. Selenium is another important mineral. ...Read more
