Is It Safe To Take Medication For Migraine While Pregnant
Depends: Many of the narcotic-based pain medications are relatively safe (e.g. Fda category b/c). Many of the anti-migraine meds (e.g. Triptans/imitrex) are in the same category as well. Most of the prophylactic (e.g. Taking something for prevention) medications (e.g. Beta blockers) are pretty safe. As always, consult with your provider before taking anything. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is there any migraine medication thats safe during early pregnancy? I have had migraines for 14-15 yrs now. Its a bit frequent these days.
See a neurologist: There are over the counter and prescription medications that you can take daily for migraine headache prophylaxis. By contrast, homeopathy is very safe in pregnancy & often quite effective. I highly recommend the book homeopathy for pregnancy, birth & your baby's first year by miranda castro. ...Read more
Migraine pain, need medicine. Tried to concieve thur, sat and sun today is tuesday. Is it safe to take imitrix or vicodin or could I b pregnant ?
This is critical: If you become pregnant, and then take Imitrex for your headaches, you have high risk of miscarriage. So, triptans are totally verboten (forbidden) during pregnancy. However, tylenol is ok, and my ob-gyn colleagues seem to be all right with vicodin. Many migraine meds are too dangerous to the fetus to risk, so my advice is to discuss fully with you obstetrician. A neurologist may also help. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
