Is biotin safe to take while pregnant? If so, what is the max daily dose? I would like to take 2500 mcg/day.
Is it safe to take prenatal vitamins and levaquin (levofloxacin) together? Do i need to wait hours in between?
Wait, if convenient: Some recommend separating the time one takes Levaquin (levofloxacin) and when one takes vitamins by a couple of hours. This is probably from a thought that the two might interact and decrease the effectiveness of the antibiotic. Not sure if this thought has been proven true. ...Read more
I take 10 mg of lisinopril daily. Wondering how dangerous it is if I forget to take it every once and a while?
Not detrimental: It takes a tremendous amount of dedication to stay on a medical regimen every day of your life! it is important that med be taken as prescribed, but we all forget here and there. For lisinopril, it is not detrimental if you missed a dose especially if you have been taking it regularly (you have a good, steady level of it in your body already) and that your pressure is under good control. Good luck. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is safe : Tylenol (acetaminophen) is safe to take during pregnancy. I'm not sure what the the pills are that you are describing. Generally tylenol (acetaminophen) can be in two forms of 325 mg or 500 mg per tablet. You can take one to two of those tablets every 4-6 hours as needed. You should not take over 4, 000 mg in a day. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
How long is it safe to take phenteine to lose weight? An is it safe to take while taking syntthroid?
Yes and no!: Fda approved, it can have side-effects: tachycardia, arrthymias, and an increase in blood pressure. The problem with phenetermine is that it usually will deliver a 10-15 lb weight loss and it's effects diminish and do not continue. It works by both suppresing appetite and increasing metabolism. If your thyroid dose is correct, shouldn't pose an issue. If high, serious problems could arise! diet! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
How long is it ok to take new colonsweep, is it ok to take for daily maintenance after the 4 week cleanse?
If i already take multivitamins, is it safe to also take vitamin c and vitamin d? Not asking if it's necessary. Just asking if it is safe to take
Safe and wise: I advise my patients to take 500-2000 mg of Vitamin C 2x/day, though larger amounts are also safe (the only issue is more than 5-10,000 mg a day may cause loose stools). I advise adults take 5-8000 iu of Vit D3 a day in fall and winter, year-round if you don't get much sun in spring and summer. Too much D can be toxic but usually at doses of 40,000 iu/day or more. Yes,6000 mcg or more: Not only is biotin safe in nursing but it is recommended to take at least 35 mcg/day. For nursing moms whose babies have cradle cap it is recommended that the mother take 6000 mcg/day.Doses of up to 15, 000 mcg (15 mg)/day are used to treat diabetes. There is no known toxic dose of biotin but probably no benefit to taking doses higher than 15 mg/day.See http://www.Med.Nyu.Edu/content?Chunkiid=21571. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Is it safe to take valerian root every night to help me sleep? It helps a lot but i don't want to take it daily if not safe.
Apparently safe: Like many natural products, research is limited, but a fair amount of research has been done and as far as is known valerian is quite safe and there are no (as of yet) known problems with long-term use. It is certainly far safer than pharmaceutical alternatives. See http://ods.Od.Nih.Gov/factsheets/valerian-healthprofessional/ also see http://bit.Ly/19qotkw for other suggestions to help sleep. ...Read more
Yes: Probiotics are great and no problem.Get a more detailed answer ›
No reliable info: There are hundreds of supplements advertised to do all sorts of magical stuff. Very few supplements have real research studies to show benefits (but manufacturers make claims, based on theories, animal tests, testimonials, chemical similarities, etc... but not on real research because real research is hard to do and is expensive to do). Nobody really knows the full effects or drug interactions. ...Read more
