Is It Safe To Take Lorcet While Pregnant
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
Lorcet (hydrocodone and acetaminophen): Sure you can - but you have to check with the OB/GYN - he may have concerns. Also one has to determine the risk/benefit given that its both you and an unborn. ...Read more
Is it safe to take Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) 10mg as directed for pain while 6wks pregnant?
Medically necessary: It's safe if it is medically necessary, and you stop as soon as possible. It is definitely not ideal. Ask the prescribing doctor if he/she knows you are pregnant; if you have no prescribing doctor and got it somewhere else, do not use it. ...Read more
How safe is it to take norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) while pregnant I'm almost 8 months and stopped taking it 4 months ago will my babies be addicted I only took about 4 out?
Baby will be fine: In general, doctors try not to give narcotics during pregnancy. It sounds like you didn't take very much and it was a long time ago. There is basically zero risk that your baby would be addicted. Remember that your body processes medications first and then the medications have to cross through the placenta which also metabolizes medications (double protection for the baby). ...Read more
I'm 22 weeks pregnant and want to stop norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) and flexeral. Is it safe?I take 6 norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) a day.How should I go about stopping so no withdrawals?
Slowly taper: In the states we would put you on either Methadone or Buprenorphine during pregnancy and then taper after. Since that may not be an option, do a slow taper, go down to 5 pills a day for 5 days and then 4 a day for 5 days and so on. We don't usually try to detox pregnant patients since the stress can trigger early labor. Discuss your options with your ob. ...Read more
My wife just found out she's pregant she takes norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) 7.5/325mg is it safe for her to still take them she has serve back neck and knee pain?
Other meds preferred: Congratulations on the pregnancy. The most common reason women take these pain medications are back pain and headaches. When used carefully by a pregnant woman under the direction of a doctor for a short period of time, there is no conclusive evidence that hydrocodone will cause long-term effects in babies. Excessive use cause complications for the baby, however, particularly after delivery. ...Read more
No: Suboxone is classified as category c by the fda. It has caused defects in animal studies but has not been adequately studied in humans. Hydrocodone also carries a c classification. Use of either is only indicated if the benefits outweigh the risks. Your obstetrician will advise you. ...Read more
Is it safe to use Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) 10mg as prescribed for pain while 6wks pregnant?
No: The clear recommendation is to ONLY resort to it if the potential benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus. So, it's a judgement call. Definitely talk to your OBGYN before taking it and seek alternative means of managing pain. This will be valuable to you over the near future at least. Best wishes for a healthy birth experience. ...Read more
I am 7wks pregnant and take 1 Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) 10/325 for back pain. Not daily, but as needed and no more than one in a day. Will the baby have any problems?
Probably safe: No medication is completely safe for the baby, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy. However, the amount of Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) you are taking has been used safely by others with no significant adverse effects to the fetus. Follow up with your obstetrician to make sure you and the baby stay healthy. ...Read more
I am 29 weeks pregnant and i'm out ofmy norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) 10s, i took 4-5 a day prescribed, for at least a month. Having withdrawals now. Is baby safe?
I'm 12 weeks pregnant, and have pulled something in my neck. I am in agony. Can I take a Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) to ease the pain?
You Can: This is a treacherous area. Opiate pain medication and tylenol (acetaminophen) (the two ingredients in NORCO) are considered safe in pregnancy but should be reserved for occasional use when really needed. Opiates taken every day rapidly lead to tolerance and addiction in both mother and baby. Babies born dependent on opiates experience withdrawal and generally have problems even after they withdraw. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hello I'm 7 weeks pregnant and I have been in n norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) sense I was 14 and I'm 21 due to 2 back surgeries. Can I still take norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) and lower the dose?
Yes: Abrupt withdraw from narcotics can cause harm to the baby. In the setting of chronic use of narcotics of long duration, it is often best to try to slowly taper down to the lowest dose possible. A zero dose is good but not always possible. Bear in mind that your baby will have to withdraw from narcotics when born and this is a difficult way to start life. Work with your Ob on this! ...Read more
15 weeks pregnant at hospital had appendix removed they gaved me norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) is that safe for the baby?
What did they say?: Did u ask them because u should have asked them. That has hydrocodone and acetominiphen, which normally u would not take if u are pregnant but after that surgery if u have to use those for a few days it will most likely not cause a problem but ask your OB as your OB may want to have the surgeon use something different, u are not supposed to take mortin either. ...Read more
I have chronic back and neck pain.I take norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) and flexeral. I'm 21 weeks pregnant and i'm wondering if baby will have withdrawal when born?
Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) is a narcotic: All narcotics can cause symptoms of withdrawal after cessation of use. Everything you take affects the fetus in some way. Norco is hydrocodone and acetaminophen(tylenol). Hydrocodone is a synthetic derivative of an opiate. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I'm 18 weeks pregnant my ob said i couldn't take norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) or FioRicet for my migraines, but another ob in the same practice said it was OK? I'm confused
Risk/benefit ratio: This is an example of risk/benefit ratio, the situation is if you migraines are to the point that you may end up in the emergency room where they would need narcotic to relieve your pain, it is better to take a smaller dose of narcotic to relieve pain. these medication do affect your fetus but in lower doses and short term use they do not have long term effects to the fetus. ...Read more
I've been taking topamax (topiramate) 50 mg for about 3 weeks. I also take lorcet klonopin nadbflexaril. Is it safe to mix these?
No.: My bias is "no." it is unclear if you have just added topomax to this regimen or not. If so, and if you are scrupulous in making sure that you aren't doped up, confused, etc., it may be alright. I would have a frank discussion with your doctor about this. This combo of four drugs - all of which have potentially sedating effects - is worrisome. ...Read more
I've been trying to get pregnant but i was taking hydrocodone sub for norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) could that make me not get pregnant?
Do I have to stop taking norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) since i'm now pregnant it is used for my headaches?
Category C: This group of meds is considered relatively safe in pregnancy if used in normal amounts. Animal studies have suggested so fetal risk but no particular risk has been found in humans. Not enough data is available to list it in a safer category. Use near the time of delivery has produced sedation and respiratory depression. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
