I've been coughing up a lot of phlegm and it keeps me up, is it ok to take robitussin and nywuil together to sleep better at night?
While not identical: there are a number of ingredients that would be duplicated if you used both of these products together. Some of these might be dextromethorphan, acetaminophen, doxylamine, pseudoephedrine, etc. So you would risk taking too much of these ingredients. I would stick to one product and follow package directions closely. Stay well:) ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can I take prednisone and proair inhaler together and if needed Tylenol and robitussin dnt? I also take Zoloft 50mg at night. I'm 42 years old.
If used correctly: If one is using nyquil and "plain" Robitussin (guaifenesin) correctly, following the packages' instructions, and has not had any problems from either medication alone, then one would expect no problems from taking them together (at the same time or at different times). The nyquil does not have the same ingredients as plain Robitussin (guaifenesin) has, so one would not be doubling up on an ingredient. ...Read more

No: Robitussin dm (guaifenesin and dextromethorphan) contains alcohol, which while it is not in a large amount, can be significant if you are taking even recommended doses every 4 hours or so.
