Is It Safe To Take Ambien Every Night
Dual diagnosis: I recommend not taking ambien (zolpidem) and suboxone. Withdrawal and insomnia is part of the process of withdrawal. Taking another potentially addictive medication is not recommended. I would only advise it's use under the strict oversight of an addiction specialist during the time of use under a medication of Suboxone which enhances it's effects ...Read more
My partner is a 50 yr old male with good health that takes no medication. He has chronic sleep issues, is it safe for him to take Ambien (zolpidem) every night?
Ambien (zolpidem): Nope. Not at all. This highly addicting and dangerous medication does not provide good restorative sleep. It is something that knocks a person out but does not allow all the necessary stages of sleep. Think of the drug that killed michael jackson. The same principles apply. Ambien (zolpidem) will knock one out but cause brain disease over time given the lack of good sleep. ...Read more

I'm prescribed 10mg Ambien (zolpidem) to take every night, and been on it for 5+ months. I've built up a tolerance, is there a higher dose I can take?
No: Ambien (zolpidem) 10 mg is the maximum dose. The problem with ALL the tranquilizer type sleep meds is you build a tolerance to them and they don't work after a while. This is why it's best not to take these every night. Taking them every 2-3 nights works better. Alternative meds that could help with sleep are Trazodone, Remeron, or Vistaril. These often are not addicting/do not cause tolerance. ...Read moreSee 5 more doctor answers

Apparently,,,: Apparently, there are no known contra-indications to doing this. Having said this, each drug has side effects, so if you experience anything like drowsiness, irritability, or decreased libido, you might want to see your doctor for a dose adjustment, especially for Ambien, (zolpidem) as 10 mg might be considered too high a dose now. Best of luck. ...Read more

I take Ultram for fibro, Zoloft and Xanax (alprazolam) for panic anxiety disorder, and a Ambien at night for sleep is this a safe combo?
Xanax (alprazolam): I don't really recommend short acting benzos like xanax (alprazolam) for panic, they are associated with inter-dose withdrawal, faster tolerance and gradual elevation of baseline anxiety, discuss the issue with your psychiatrist, otherwise the combination is ok. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
