Is it safe to sleep on my back at 17 weeks pregnant?

Is it safe to sleep on my back at 17 weeks pregnant?

Yes: This early in the pregnancy sleeping on your back is not an issue. This idea comes from patients in labor. When people are in labor and the fetal heart rate goes down wwe can move you to your side to increase blood flow to the placenta and baby. At 17 weeks it is not an issue.

I'm 17 weeks pregnant with triplets and go to sleep on my sides but often times wake up on my back and my arms are asleep. Is it affecting the babies?

No: Try to sleep on your left side, it will keep pressure off your aorta and provide better blood supply to the babies. All the best and I hope all goes well.

I am 17 weeks pregnancy, I have been going to pee at late nights now suddenly I don't pee in the night. Is this normal?

I am 17 weeks pregnancy, I have been going to pee at late nights now suddenly I don't pee in the night. Is this normal?

Yes: As the uterus moves up with the growing baby, and not press on your urinary bladder as it used to in early pregnancy. You may experience urgency again in late pregnancy when the head of the baby comes down in the pelvis and presses on the bladder, wish you a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby

Is it dangerous to lie flat on your back when 17 weeks preg? I mostly sleep on my side but I do sleep on my back a lot too.

Is it dangerous to lie flat on your back when 17 weeks preg? I mostly sleep on my side but I do sleep on my back a lot too.

Not dangerous: Ideally, you would not lie directly on your back. This can lead to a drop in your blood pressure that you will notice because you will get light-headed and dizzy. If you do find yourself on your back, re-tilt and do not worry.

17 weeks pregnant is it safe to go kart race?

No: As a new Mom to be, it is imperative to remember that you house a budding new human being and putting that human being at risk for injury is unwise. As OB MD;s, we even strongly advise pregnant women to wear seat belt restraints in their personal vehicles to avoid injury to a fetus, and go karts do not have any restraints in case of accidents.

I'm 17 weeks pregnant, vomits several times daily for past 5 days pharm gave motilium-m 10mg. I took 1 tablet seems that it’s not safe. Can I lose my baby?

See OB: If you have protracted vomiting you may need to go see your dr and be admitted for IV hydration and control of vomiting. Hyperemesis gravidarum in pregnancy can cause you to be at risk with your baby if not treated.

Be checked: To make sure you don't have any complications related to your pregnancy. You should have your blood pressure and your urine checked as well as a good physical exam. It may turn out to be not serious but you should be examined. All the best.

I have very bad back pain when 17 weeks pregnant?

I have very bad back pain when 17 weeks pregnant?

Osteopathic Exam/Tx: In pregnancy, back pain is frequently musculoskeletal due to growing fetus, stretching ligaments, & uterus displacing ribs. I see this commonly in my practice. Can't take meds, so a good osteopathic hands-on exam & gentle manipulation may relieve the pain without endangering baby. It's gotten my daughter through 1 pregnancy & now through a second. :)

Is it actually safe for a women who is 17 weeks pregnant to get novacaine at the dentist?

Is it actually safe for a women who is 17 weeks pregnant to get novacaine at the dentist?

Yes: Yes, dental anesthetics are generally safe to use once you are in your second trimester. You want to avoid any dental work unless it is absolutely necessary in the first trimester. It is also best to get a consult from your obgyn about the dental anesthetics they might want avoided as some anesthetic contains Epinephrine which may need to be avoided in things like high risk pregnancies.

I'm 17 weeks pregnant and was woken up several times by sharp pain in my left lower to mid back that comes and goes. What should I do?

I'm 17 weeks pregnant and was woken up several times by sharp pain in my left lower to mid back that comes and goes. What should I do?

Musculoskeletal: Most sudden sharp pains as you describe are caused by spasm of muscles and ligaments, especially ones that support the uterus which is now enlarging at 17 weeks. You may have turned in your sleep and tweaked these muscles, causing the pain. Try side sleep on left side with pillow support between your knees - this gives uterus support while optimizing blood flow to baby. If not helpful, see OB.
