Is it safe to have mercury tooth fillings while pregnant?

Is it safe to have mercury tooth fillings while pregnant?

Yes: The mercury is a non-issue. No evidence that it will harm you or the baby. That said, we try to get all dental work done in the second trimester. If you are having pain, that's another story. Rule of thumb though, get all your dental work done in the second trimester. Cleanings can be done at any time. ...Read more

Can a tooth that had a mercury filling be harmful to unborn baby if tooth has chipped and i swallowed the bit of tooth I am 26 weeks pregnant

Nope: Your baby will not be harmed by any broken teeth or fillings. Have the tooth looked at by your dentist. There's a reason it broke, and it may need to be treated before you give birth. ...Read more

Is it safe to get mercury fillings while pregnant got 2 yesterday and now worried it will harm my baby..I'm 34 weeks?

Everyone will b fine: Both you and your baby will be fine. Amalgam fillings have been placed for over 150 years... If there was an issue, medical science would have determined a correlation with a health problem. Don't believe everything written on the internet. There has been much debate on the subject but it's just that... A debate. ...Read more

I am scheduled for an MRI in Dec but I have 2 mercury fillings plus one metal nail in one of my root canalled teeth. Is it safe for me to get an MRI?

Yes, except...: The mercury fillings are not important for MRI studies. The metal nail may be a problem if it is an old treatment or performed in certain countries, most notably the eastern european countries. In these circumstances, it is possible that the tooth with the nail could heat up or become loose with MRI. At your age, that is unlikely, however. Tell details to the MRI tech before you start study. ...Read more

Im 8weeks pregnant and had a silver filling placed while pregnant has had cracked tooth n needed it will my unborn baby be ok I have read it harmful?

Im 8weeks pregnant and had a silver filling placed while pregnant has had cracked tooth n needed it will my unborn baby be ok I have read it harmful?

You are ok!: The amount of mercury in an amalgam "silver" filling is negligible. Treating your tooth problem properly allows you to continue through your pregnancy without that tooth being at risk for further problems, decay, and infection which are more detrimental to the health of your baby than getting a filling. Although i would prefer to place composite fillings free of metal, your baby should be fine. ...Read more
