Yes

The mercury is a non-issue. No evidence that it will harm you or the baby. That said, we try to get all dental work done in the second trimester. If you are having pain, that's another story. Rule of thumb though, get all your dental work done in the second trimester. Cleanings can be done at any time.

Everyone will b fine

Both you and your baby will be fine. Amalgam fillings have been placed for over 150 years... if there was an issue, medical science would have determined a correlation with a health problem. Don't believe everything written on the internet. There has been much debate on the subject but it's just that... a debate.

Nope

Your baby will not be harmed by any broken teeth or fillings. Have the tooth looked at by your dentist. There's a reason it broke, and it may need to be treated before you give birth.

What is the danger of mercury tooth filling?

I believe none.

All studies say there is no danger.Do a study for yourself & stand on a corner & see if anyone that passes by has at least one mercury amalgam filling in their mouth. You might find that 9 out if 10 will have at least 1 of these metal fillings in their mouth. Then ask yourself how are all these people walking around appearing healthy with all those type of fillings in their mouth.

Pregnancy and Tx

Most dentists & doctors agree that all elective dental treatment should be postponed until after delivery. Any necessary dental treatment in healthy women, especially when it involves alleviating pain and\or infection or the likelihood of it, can be performed with some normal precautions. This includes local anesthesia (w\o epi), fillings and extractions. Have your dentist consult with OBGYN 1st

At the right time

Dental treatments during the first trimester and second half of the third trimester should be avoided as much as possible. These are critical times in the baby's growth and development and it's simply wise to avoid exposing the mother to procedures that could in any way influence the baby's growth and development. However, routine dental care can be received during the second trimester. Ask ur obg

According to a new study recently published it should be ok. The pain meds have to be in a very narrow range, but it is better to eliminate infections in the mouth during pregnancy to help insure you have a safe pregnancy

Absolutely safe

However, a dentist should go over your complete medical (and dental) history, and consult with both your Obstetrician and you regarding some basic safety precautions. In most cases, NOT getting needed dental care is more deleterious to both you and your unborn child. Congratulations and best of luck!
