Is it safe to have chelation therapy on a regular basis?

Is it safe to have chelation therapy on a regular basis?

Yes: Most of us who provide IV chelation therapy recommend 1-2 treatments per week, for a series of 10-30 treatments, or until the desired benefit is obtained (usually 20-30 treatments), followed by monthly "maintenance" treatments thereafter. Chelation (Definition)

Chelation is the name for administering a substance to remove heavy metals from the body. It can be an important treatment for lead poisoning or iron overload. It is also touted by some for the treatment of autism spectrum disorders, based on the idea that these children may have toxicity from mercury or other heavy metals. However, there is little evidence to support this hypothesis. Chelation agents bind metals nonspecifically and may result in dangerously low levels of calcium, iron, and magnesium, in addition to toxic heavy metals. Thus, ...Read more

What is a safe stool softener to use on a regular basis that works good and fast?

What is a safe stool softener to use on a regular basis that works good and fast?

Try miralax (polyethylene glycol): The truth is that stool softeners work when used here and there. If used regularly, they loose their potency and become ineffective. For regular relief MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) is far superior. It is a white powder mixed in a liquid of choice that can be used regularly, has virtually no taste, and is not habit forming. One caveat-if you have had a change in your bowel habits, see your doctor. ...Read more

Is it possible to get chronic migraines on a daily basis?

Chronic daily HA's: You are correct, as headache patterns can deteriorate to virtually daily events, especially in migraineurs. This pattern seems more often related to usage of analgesic meds, especially frequent use of Tylenol (acetaminophen). Pattern can be blunted and curtailed by employing a preventative anti-migraine medicine. Find a neurologist who specializes in headaches so you can exclude other causes. ...Read more

I have consulted a dermatologist and he has given me a steroid composition, but is it safe to use it for a prolonged time?

I have consulted a dermatologist and he has given me a steroid composition, but is it safe to use it for a prolonged time?

Probably not: Consistent long-term steroid use on the skin is harmful. That being said, your dermatologist is well aware of the risks, can explain them to you in more detail if you wish, & has a plan in mind to fit your condition that in most cases would not require using the steroid cream long-term. Hope that helps. ...Read more

Is it advisable for a female to take multi-vitamins and calcium supplements on a long term basis? If yes, what do I look out for in my selection.

Is it advisable for a female to take multi-vitamins and calcium supplements on a long term basis? If yes, what do I look out for in my selection.

Good mulitvit, Vit D: It's best to get vits from your diet, but the majority of americans don't get enough vit a, e, d, folic acid, calcium, mag. &chromium from their diets & over 1/3 are deficient in c, zinc & b6. Thus, unless you have an exceptionally healthy diet it is wise to take a high quality mulivit. Plus about 5000 iu of d in fall & winter (year-round if you wear sunscreen or avoid sun). Please see my comment:. ...Read more
