Ear wax: Products like Murine, Auro & Debrox contain Carbamide Peroxide. They are made to clean ears. Low concentrations of hydrogen peroxide are sometimes used to loosen wax before it's removal. I personally wouldn't recommend that you start pouring chemicals into your ears. The higher the concentration the more chance there is for tissue damage. Safe yes smart no: As a general rule your ear canal and everything in it should not be touched either by water, qtips, bobby pins or peroxide. The only thing these things do is anger the ear canal skin and angry ear canal skin responds by making more wax. Unless you can not hear due to wax leave your ear alone. Not advised: Carbamide peroxide is essentially hydrogen peroxide. If you are using Ofloxacin otic for external otitis (swimmer's ear), i would defer using carbamide peroxide simultaneously. In what form?: All whitening strips and gels use either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide in different concentrations. They are generally safe because the company formulates the gel with approved methods, and your dentist creates a custom tray to protect your teeth.
