Is It Safe To Clean Ears With Hydrogen Peroxide
My ears have been clogged for a few weeks and wondering if hydrogen peroxide is safe to use to clean them out if I've had tubes put in as a child?
Almost 2 years ago, I have had a perforated ear drum which has already healed and closed. Will cleaning with hydrogen peroxide to this ear be safe?

Ear wax: Products like Murine, Auro & Debrox contain Carbamide Peroxide. They are made to clean ears. Low concentrations of hydrogen peroxide are sometimes used to loosen wax before it's removal. I personally wouldn't recommend that you start pouring chemicals into your ears. The higher the concentration the more chance there is for tissue damage. Little if any: Hydrogen peroxide breaks down to water as it bubbles out the oxygen. This water can create a puddle effect that causes the skin to swell. Over time the skin in the canal cracks and exposes body serum, leading to infection by canal germs (swimmers ear). If you use peroxide, get it all out after use. ...Read more

Safe yes smart no: As a general rule your ear canal and everything in it should not be touched either by water, qtips, bobby pins or peroxide. The only thing these things do is anger the ear canal skin and angry ear canal skin responds by making more wax. Unless you can not hear due to wax leave your ear alone. Used hydrogen peroxide to try to clean ear. Within seconds felt shooting pain from ear down to neck. What could cause this?
Ear pain with H2O2: What was the temp of the peroxide? If it was cold it can cause irritation and shooting pain. I cleaned my ears using hydrogen peroxide and after that, my other ear hurts but the other is fine. This is the first time this happened.

I use hydrogen peroxide to clean and qtips to take out the wax. I know its bad to use qtips. My ear hurts, I use h.P.To see if there is wax but none.
Stop with the qtips: No fingers or bobby pins either. You have probably given yourself "eczematous otitis externa". You need wax to help waterproof the ear, prevent itching, and to be a natural antibiotic and antifungal. No more than 2x a month qtips for you.
