BPPV?: It sounds like BPPV. This is caused by small stones in the inner ear moving from utricle to semicircular canals where they are not suppose to be. They send false signals to the brain and make you feel dizzy. This can be treatable. See an ent doctor. If you have more questions contact me on my Virtual Practice at www. Healthtap. How come I get dizzy everytime I stand up after sitting or laying down?

How come I get dizzy everytime I stand up after sitting or laying down?

Dizzy standing up: Your blood pressure changes when you stand, but should quickly normalize so that you do not notice. Occasional dizziness may be minor. When you have frequent postural hypotension, this adjustment does not happen as quickly and you notice the drop (dizziness). Your doctor can check your baseline blood pressure and make sure you do not have other issues that may contribute to postural hypotension. ...Read more

Does it also happen when getting up from a lying position? Sounds like BPPV or "benign paroxysmal positional vertigo." You should touch base with a neurologist to help you. ...Read more

As soon as I get up from laying down, I get dizzy and my head start to hurt. Is this normal?

No: The main thing you worry about here is cardiac issues. I would recommend you have a cardiac workup to be safe. I recently had a breakdown and was prescribed 3 different anti depressants. I stopped the all but now get dizzy when looking up and laying down?

Sudden stopping!: Sudden discontinuation of antidepressants can make you feel dizzy, tingly, and overall not quite right. Most should be tapered. I would recommend being tested for the mthfr genotypes (677 ; 1298). 84% of the us population has a defect in which we can't make our own neurotransmitters like serotonin, nor-epinephrine, and dopamine. Dizziness upon standing up! When laying down my b/p is norm. Pulse 75 & oxygen sat is 96. When I stand up b/p norm. Pulse 140 & oxy. Sat is 99. Ok?!

Not quite: First, why would a person have an oxygen saturation monitor? Secondly, the pulse increase from 75 to 140 is a big jump, which suggests that the person might not be getting enough blood flow upstairs quickly enough. A visit to the doctor can help sort things out. ...Read more

When I go from sitting or laying down to standing up my HR goes from 88 to 131 and I feel really dizzy this is affecting my life why is this happening?

That is excessive: You may have postural orthostatic tachycardic syndrome. There's a loss of heartrate control which normally increases when we go from lying to standing. However, generally, it shouldn't be more than 10-15 beats per minute which usually adjusts a bit more as activity & blood pressure stabilize. As a neurologist I see this a lot. What are possible causes for feeling dizzy and lightheaded when standing up from laying down and sometimes from sitting?

Referred to as: Orthostatic hypotension. When you go from lying down to seated, your heart has to pump blood against gravity to get it to the brain and blood also "pools" lower in the body. To overcome this, your heart rate increases and blood pressure needs to rapidly increase. Sometimes our bodies are slow to respond and this can lead to a temporary decrease in blood flow to the brain - that can make you dizzy ...Read more
