Is It Possible To Become Pregnant If Your Dhea Level Is High
When your due date arrives, you will be more than ready to have your baby! Most women deliver the baby somewhere between 37 and 42 weeks. According to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, only 5% of babies arrive on the exact due date. Approximately 7% of babies are not delivered by 42 weeks, and when that happens, it is referred to ...Read more
First why elevated?:
DHEAS is the highest concentration steroid hormone. From it is formed all the steroids, including estrogen and progesterone. It can also be associated with elevated male hormones like testosterone that can interfere with cycles and ovulation. It also may affect pregnancy outcomes, especially with girl baby. Elevated DHEAS can come from the adrenal glands, ovaries or both. Glad to discuss ...Read more

If no pregnancy after 12mo, then see Reproductive Endocrinologist for tests ...Read more
Definitely Possible: I can not answer the question as to how, but you can get pregnant with an elevated DHEA (or DHEA-S). The answer as to how depends on the cause and there are several. You need to see a doctor experienced in disorders of androgens, find the cause & then get treated. I rec starting with an Endocrinologist or Reproductive Endo. Don't panic, first find out if there is even a problem & go from there. ...Read more

Age 38: At age 38 fertility rates will be lower. Consider seeing ann obgyn for fertility testing. An AMH test could be considered to determine if there enough eggs left. Ovulation testing should be done as an elevated DHEAS can sometimes inhibit ovulation. A semen analysis should be done to make sure there are no male issues. ...Read more

Good: All those labs are within normal range. Most importantly your thyroid and prolactin look good. Most women with PCOS need help when it comes to ovulating. So despite the fact that all these results look good, there's a high chance you will still need help (i.e. Clomid) from your doctor to ovulate. ...Read more
Hello, I am Sadia. I want to become pregnant. I got marry 4.5 years ago. Please help me. I am so worry. Sometime I have high prolactin level and pco?
Depends on lab: Hi. For most labs, upper end of normal for prolactin (PRL) is about 17, so "high" is anything above that. Depending on how high PRL is and how long it's been there, you may start ovulating soon after starting cabergoline, or it may take months. My advice: practice the conception ritual frequently...it will probably happen. ...Read more
I have hashimoto's thyroiditis. If thyroid hormone levels are normal, but antibodies are still high, is it safe to become pregnant?
DHEA is a mild androgen, produced by the adrenal glands. It is unusual to have a high level of DHEA unless you are supplementing with DHEA.
The good news is that there is no negative feedback mechanism for DHEA, which means that taking it does not affect your own production of it.
It shouldn't cause a problem. Just decrease or stop your supplementation.
My DHEA level is high. A blood test taken 18 mos ago showed a level of 406, and a more recent test shows 380. 55 yr, active, healthy male. Concern?
No concern: DHEA levels vary widely in individuals, as well as throughout the day. Levels are normally higher in men compared to women. It is a precursor hormone made by the adrenal glands. Unless there was a particular concern related to your adrenal glands, it should not have been measured, and certainly should not be a part of a "routine" lab screen. ...Read more
