Pregnant question my mom could not get pregnant for 10 years is that something that is hertitary and will be a problem for me to?
There : There are many different causes of infertility. Some are hereditary or partially hereditary but infertilty per se is not a heritable disease. Since 30-40% of infertility is male related, your mom might not have had any fertility problems at all. Try to find out what she knew about the cause of her fertility difficulties and any gynecologic problems that she subsequently developed. A more specific knowledge of her history might be helpful in predicting your potential but most likely her history doesn't necessarily mean problems for you. ...Read more
Why is it so important for someone with diabetes to sleep on the left side during pregnancy, but it's not stressed for other pregnant women?
Not so: Women are encouraged to sleep on their left side as pregnancy progresses as the vena cava (large blood vessel) can become flattened if lying on back (due to size of uterus). Sleeping on the left side can help to prevent this compression so that blood finds it's way to your uterus. This is true for diabetic and non-diabetic pregnant women. Take care. ...Read more
My son uses a cpap for apnea but still has sleep interruption. Been going on for a few years. Doctor can't find the cause for this. Can you help?

Central apnea is not hereditary. Obstructive apneas can run in families, especially if your child looks a lot like you did as an infant/toddler. ...Read more

The variation in sleeping hours is quite a lot - anywhere from 18-22 hours! The way you tell if there is anything wrong with your baby is when she is awake how is she responding? is she sucking well? is she feeding well? is she gaining weight? If worried see a doc ...Read more
Yes.: A stroke (interruption of the blood flow to a particular part of the brain) can occur at any time. While it is unusual, it can occur during sleep when the brain is supposed to be resting. Generally, your blood pressure declines when you sleep and there is less change in blood flow, so the chances are lower; however, if there is a stroke, oftentimes it will be known right after you wake up. ...Read more

This : This sounds like a classic braxton hicks contraction. It can be very difficult to tell the difference between these contractions and true labor contractions. Keep this in mind, if the contractions are not getting onsistently stronger, longer, and closer together then you are likely in false labor, if not, and they are increasing in intensity and length and more frequent then you should call your doctor right away or present to OB triage. Best of luck! ...Read more
