Is It Possible For Blood Clots To Form Even While Taking Xarelto
How do I know if pains are lingering from former PE or if they are new blood clots taking 20mg xarelto now HR stays in 80s now and more palps?
Can be tough to tell: If your symptoms persist, it may be more clots. I would not ignore these symptoms because, if you have more clots on Xarelto, you may need other treatments. Good luck! ...Read more
On xarelto for 3 mths, chemo for idc bc. .. Just started period (1st since apr). Large blood clots are present, wouldn't the xarelto prevent this?
Period and Xarelto: Xarelto makes the blood "thinner" but it does not prevent blood clots completely. Otherwise, you would be bleeding all over the place. We still need to maintain a baseline clot ting capacity. The trick is to find a balance to make it less likely to clot while still able to. Clots during your period are not unreasonable or unexpected. ...Read more

How long can symptoms of PE linger? Is it possible to develop new clots while taking Xarelto? Does Zoloft (sertraline) increase blood clot risk?
Depends: Depends on what caused the PE, how big the clot is, and how well the clot is responding to the bood thinning agent. The likelihood of developing new clots on Xarelto would definitely be lower than if not on a blood thinner, but depending on the cause they could technically recur.Zoloft (sertraline) has been shown in recent studies to decrease platelet activity in post heart attack patients, and may do so in PE too ...Read more

Treatment of Deep Venous Thrombosis has three aims:
To stop the thrombus from breaking off and becoming a pulmonary embolus, to stop the thrombus from growing larger & reduce chance of more DVT. Please call your treating MD to discuss your treatment, he may also want you to wear compression stockings but you should coordinate through your treating MD only. Good luck.

After taking Rivaroxaban will I have the same risk of having a blood clot as someone without atrial fibrillation thanks?
Yes but..: Treatment withr xarelto is 15 mg twice a day for 21 days then 20 mg once a day after that. Duration depends on several factors but most people require 3-6 month. Xarelto 15 mg once a day is used to prevent blood clots in individuals with irregular heart beats (atrial fibrillation). It is not an adequate dose for treatment of blood clots. ...Read more
I broke my ankle 3 days ago and found out blood clot in calf area from being sedentary for 3days - now on xarelto. What else can I do to tx/prevent?
Doing right thing: You are currently doing the correct thing. Any time you have an ankle fracture and are immobilized you are at increased risk of a blood clot. The important thing is to diagnose the blood clot early and get on a blood thinner (which you have done). Now you can allow your body to absorb the clot. In the future, alert providers you have a history of blood clots so you can prevent future clots. ...Read more
Can the blood clot behind my knee dislodge if I hit my shin against shower rail? Slight bruise sz of quarter with with a slight bump. On xarelto 20 mg
Very unlikely: The injury described would be quite unlikely to cause the clot you have to dislodge. The swelling at the site is due to local bleeding from the injury and being on a blood thinner. Elevate the leg, cool compresses to the injury and watch for increased swelling in your calf and lower leg. ...Read more
Is it possible to have blood clot in leg even with normal x-ray, ekg, troponin, d-dimer & being on xarelto for a-fib? Also, creatine kinease was 153.
I trust you mean clots forming in blood vessels, called thrombi. Alteration in or more the following three things causes thrombus formation. 1. Alteration in blood flow, 2. Damage to the lining of blood vessel, called endothelium and 3. Increased coagulability of blood. The reference below provided professional explanation.

Variable.: With immobility or after injury, surgery, etc., can form in a short period os time, sometimes hours. May take longer - days or even weeks depending on your blood coagulability (anility to clot) and the underlying reason for the clot to form. If you are on ant-coagulants or have had an injury and clotting is not rapid, you may have a clotting problem. In either case, seek medical evaluation to chec. ...Read more

I have a small left sided heart abnormal septal motion and SVT can this cause blood clots to form?
Eat Your Spinach: In general, vitamin k is associated with blood clotting. Vitamin k is a "fat loving" vitamin that carboxylates proteins important in the clotting process. Without this action of vit k, clots are unable to form. Drugs such as warfarin prevent vit k from doing its job, therefore patients on this medication tend to bleed a lot. Both the diet and bacteria in our gut provide vit k for use. ...Read more

Blood clot causes: We doctors are taught to remember virchow's triad: blood vessel injury, stasis, and hypercoagulability. The first refers to things like surgery and catheters, the second to slow blood flow due to immobility or compression on a blood vessel, and last to things that make the clotting system more active like birth control pills and hereditary disorders that make the blood more likely to clot. ...Read more
