I have seen one case: In 35 years of practice focused on lung cancer, so it is very rare. We call cancers from their source of origin because it helps us decide how to manage the problem and what the outlook is. A "lung cancer" in an adolescent would be so outside the norm, we would not have those answers. One must be sure it is not lymphoma, germ cell tumor, or metastasis from another place. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
It depends: If this is a primary lung cancer, meaning it started in the lung, it depends on the stage and type of cancer. Early (stage 1) lung cancers can be cured with surgery. At 16, a primary lung cancer would be extremely rare; a metastatic cancer (from a cancer that started somewhere else) is more likely. Some of these can be cured (testis cancer in particular), but i'm sorry to tell you most cannot. ...Read moreSee 3 more doctor answers
Do you smoke?: If you smoke, then you are at risk for developing lung cancer at a later age. If you have a family history of lung cancer in non-smokers, or if you are exposed to wood or silica dust, asbestos, or second-hand smoke on a regular basis, you are also at risk. It's rare to develop lung cancer at age 16, but what you do at age 16 influences your later risk! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

No data available: These products have not been available long enough,or studied well enough to answer this question. This product does not contain some of the dozens of toxic materials in inhaled spoke from regular cigarettes. However, the use of the lungs as an entry point for this or any drug exposes the lung tissue to damage, if that substance can do so on a cellular level. ...Read more

No worries: You are not at risk for lung cancer from this brief exposure. Although long term data about e-cig use is not yet available, none of the potentially harmful factors would cause cancer after such a short period of exposure. Congratulations on stopping and I hope you can get your friends to stop. 16yr old girl i was told i had bronchitis and have have asthma but I have a painful long cough gasp for air, wheeze, mood swings. Do I have lung cancer?
Not likely: If your doctor told you that you have bronchitis ; asthma, s/he means you have bronchitis ; asthma and not cancer. What treatment did s/he provide to you? What follow up was suggested? Mood swings is an additional problem not associated with bronchitis. It may need care also, but you need to tell your physician you're experiencing this so that you receive it. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

Bad luck: You don't need to smoke a lot to cause cancer. They asked jack nicklaus how he kept winning. "luck, " he said. "but you just beat every golfer in the world?! that's luck? Hi doctor, m cured frm TB bt TB left scars..Can i get lung cancer/any other disease bcz of TB scars? 22 year old female. I don't smoke. Plz reply me.
Don't worry: We've both been cured of TB and that's a good thing. The tiny statistical cancer risk that these old scars pose (and not everybody believe they even do) isn't something we can do anything about. You can't remove the scar, and nowadays it's not considered even worth getting radiation to look for it. Just be grateful that TB is now manageable. Best wishes. ...Read more

How do you get lung cancer? If you don't smoke? Myparents smoked, but i always hated the way the stuff smelled. When i got older, i made them go outside to smoke, and i haven't been around smokers in years. Sohow could I have lung cancer?
I : I agree with dr. Leeman's answer entirely. Clearly, the most common cause of lung cancer is due to cigarette smoking. As an added piece of information, exposure to radon gas, usually by way of poorly vented basements, is one of the more likely causes of lung cancer when smoking is not a factor. You live in cook county, illinois and in general, it is listed as a county with moderate potential for levels of radon (in the range of 2-4 pci/l). You may want to have your home assessed for radon levels and if they are elevated have a reputable radon mitigation company discuss options for your home - usually a simple venting system is all that is needed. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
