Is It Okay To Take Amitriptyline With A Low Dose Of Tramadol For Pain
Take Genetic Test: You might be able to take both low dose Amitriptyline and low dose tramadol for pain, depending on your genetics. You can have (cheek swab) pharmacogenomic tests done at the doctor's office (e.g. Assurex, genomind) to determine how you metabolize psychiatric and pain meds. In this way, your doctor can determine what will be a wise course of treatment. Consider tms for pain. ...Read more
Usually: While it is generally safe to use the medications in combination, there is a slight risk of developing serotonin syndrome. Serotonin syndrome is characterized by restlessness, diarrhea, rapid heart beat, confusion, sweating/fever, nausea/vomiting, loss of coordination, and blood pressure changes. In addition both can sedate you so you should be careful about driving. ...Read more
I am on a low dose of tramadol. 50-100mg per day. Is it still safe to have alcohol? Just stopped taking amitriptyline last week. 10mg per day.
Not recommended: Tramadol and alcohol are depressant of the central nervous system. Mixing tramadol with alcohol could lead to drowsiness to severe depression of brain activity, coma, and ultimately death. Tramadol has a prolonged half-life about 7 hours. It is still in your system for at least 10 hours. Is not recommended. ...Read more

Can I mix tramadol and amitriptyline? My urologist gave them to me for cystitis in my bladder and I take 200mg of tramadol a day and 1 100mg of the other medicine at night, is it still okay to take both?
Amitriptyline is medication for Depression.
Thank you for informing about use of Xanax (alprazolam).

My Dr prescribed me tramadol and flexarol, at bedtime I have pills I take daily as wel (elavil&mavik). Last night I was very lightheaded and felt sick.
Sedating medications: Elavil (amitriptylene), tramadol, and Flexeril (cyclobenzaprine) are all sedating and if taken together in someone who's not used to them could indeed make you feel ill. The Mavik (trandolapril) is a blood pressure medication which is not sedating and is not culpable here. Both tramadol and Flexeril are as-needed meds, so it is safe to reduce your own dose of these by dividing the tablets and taking 1/2. ...Read more

Depends, probably not: It depends on how long you have been taking each medication and what you do for a living. The safest answer is no, because both can cause sedation and lead to occupational hazards. If you have taken these for a long time and you have had no issues, you could consider returning to more sedentary work, but the two together in any dangerous situations would not be advised. ...Read more

Are there any dangerous interactions between neurontin, (gabapentin) tramadol, and amitriptyline?
Yes: Theoretically this combination may result in mental slowing and other related central nervous system effects. Again, in theory, concomitant use of Amitriptyline and teamadol may cause seizures and so-called serotoninergic syndrome. However, if you take the medications and have no side effects, no other actions but monitoring is required. ...Read more
I've taken 7.5mg zopiclone + 5mg Valium & 2 x 30/500 cocodamol for sleep but it is ineffective. I've now had amitriptyline & tramadol. Is this safe?
Not Safe!: It is never safe to combine these medications. Talk to your doctor about your insomnia. You need a careful evaluation in order to obtain an accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Polypharmacy is never safe! We lose too many young people each year due to unintentional overdose. Be safe and work with your doctor. ...Read more
Neuropathic pain: Responds to many different agents. Its important that the treatment not exacerbate (amitriptyline) nor end up being worse for you (tramadol) than the disease / condition. Serotonergic syndrome and seizures can occur with Ultram. Elavil will cause anticholinergic symptoms and may actually worsen some types of neuropathy. Venlafaxine may help but it is not a top choice in my practice. ...Read more

Taking tramadol 50mg, elavil (amitriptyline) 10mg both twice daily for radiculopathy pain/burning. Still constantly in pain. What else can I do/ask dr to give/incr?
Many options.: I would start with a good once a day non steroidal ant-inflammatory such as indomethacin. Could increase either elavil or tramadol although there is a potential interaction between tramadol and effexor (venlafaxine). Gabapentin or pregabalin is an option. Sometimes a muscle relaxant such as methocarbamol or cyclobenzaprine is helpful. ...Read more
Is a combination of meds like tramadol, amitriptyline and Zoloft (sertraline) better for controlling nerve pain than one of the meds alone?
Depends: Presumably you're working with a neurologist or pain management specialist for neuropathic pain treatment. If not, you should see one. It is always better to treat a condition with the least number of medications and the lowest dose of each medication possible. Discuss this with your physician. Http://www. Webmd. I'm taking endep10 and started taking 50mg 5-htp morning and night. Just realised can't mix. Endep (amitriptyline) 10 is a Low dose. Is this ok??
Need to discuss: In order to answer your question correctly it would be best to either speak with you or have you speak with your provider. It is correct that these two medicine should not be combined because of the risk of serotonin syndrome. If you're asking if your endep (amitriptyline) is ok to take (if you do not take the other) You should discuss with your doctor. ...Read more

I have frequent minor palpitations. No serious heart conditions tho. Is amitriptyline at a low dose safe for me? I've read it causes arrhythmia.
Depends on history: Amitriptyline is more likely to cause serious palpitations in those over age 60, with a history of heart disease or arrhythmias, and usually at higher doses. Accordingly it's hard to say in your case without knowing more of your medical history. ...Read more

Interactions: Technically, Ultram and Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) do have an interaction in that they can increase the risk of seizures, more so with higher doses of each. And Ultram and Klonopin can cause central nervous system depression (can make you extra sleepy and not know what you're doing) as well as respiratory depression (decrease you're breathing). So you might want to talk to your docs about these interactions. ...Read more
The reported prevalence of serotonin syndrome is unknown possibly because of underdiagnosis or misdiagnosis. Can low dose of amitriptyline take away symptoms of celiac disease? Specifically, chronic diarrhea and lack of appetite?
Combating symptoms: Amitriptylene has anticholinergic and antihistaminic side effects that can slow the bowel and increase appetite.
