Is it okay to drink juice instead of water before kidney ultrasound?

Is it okay to drink juice instead of water before kidney ultrasound?

Ultrasound and fluid: The goal for a kidney ultrasoun is to have the bladder full and then do a post voiding image. Does not matter what fluid you use. Would avoid caffeine or alcohol because of the diuretic effect since you may be holding your urine until the appropriate time of the test. ...Read more

Sonogram (Definition)

An ultraound, also known as a sonogram, is a painless and relatively inexpensive imaging test that utilizes sound waves instead of ionizing radiation. There are no side effects. Ultrasound can give us two-dimensional, and in some applications three-dimensional, images of structures and organs in virtually any part of the body. In addition to diagnostic uses, such as evaluating abnormalities in the abdomen, pelvis, and breast, ultrasounds are commonly used to guide needle and catheter placement in a variety of surgical ...Read more

If I only drink 4 medium glasses of water/juice a day and one mug coffee is this enough? If not could it cause pain in kidney area?

If I only drink 4 medium glasses of water/juice a day and one mug coffee is this enough? If not could it cause pain in kidney area?

Maybe?: I think the amount of water you are drinking is probably sufficient to prevent any kidney issues, if you're doing it regularly. If you have kidney-type pain despite this, I think I would want to get a urinalysis (or at least an in-office "dipstick"-type test of your urine) to look for abnormalities. This may show infection, blood (that might indicate a kidney stone, etc). Good luck! ...Read more

How could i know that there is still stone or not in my kidney after 2 months of ultrasound, as i drink plenty of water and regular exercise ?

Repeat ultrasound: If you don't have any symptom like pain over the kidney or referral pain in the groin you might not have it any more. To be sure you need another ultrasound. You should be aware that kidneys that make stone continue to produce it. With a urine test your able to find out what kind of stone you are producing and then eliminate the compound from your diet. Here are some ...: Forming crystals and stones is a constant process and the most important factor to prevent recurrence is keep the concentration of all stone ingredients in the urine for stone formation always below their threshold to form crystals. So, largely, keep 24-hr urine output > 2500 cc constantly. Drinking the fluid like lemon is to supply one of the known stone inhibitors - citrate; so, it may help... ...Read more

I having lower back pain I don't know if its a infection in my kidneys wen I use the bathroom my urin is cloudy I drink water and cranberry juice ?

You need to see a doctor about the lower back pain because it could be due to many other things. Best wishes. ...Read more

Husbands ultrasound keeps finding renal calculi in both kidneys. He has No symptoms though.he drinks lot water daily and lemon but still gets stones??

Get 24 hour urine: If your husband has had issues with stones then he should undergo a metabolic evaluation including blood tests and also a 24 hour urine collection to determine his stone risk factors so that prevention can be optimized. He also may need additional imaging as ultrasound does not provide as high a resolution to accurately size stones and pinpoint locations. See your urologist ...Read more

I was told that i can drink cranberry juice without sugar to clean out my kidney if so how much?

I was told that i can drink cranberry juice without sugar to clean out my kidney if so how much?

No need to use.: Water does the same thing. Cranberry juice doesn't clean out your kidney any better than any other juice. There is still some banter and common use of cranberry juice for preventing or treating uti, but evidence for this is weak. As best i can see there is no benefit to juicing and there is certainly no need to use kidney cleaner. ...Read more

Depends upon how much fluid present 11 millimeters diameter of fetal kidney pelvis or less is usually fine. 25mm or more before birth may well require treatment after birth. Suggest consult with pediatric urologist, and provide details most babies will never require any treatment after birth. Good luck. ...Read more

I am suffering from kidney stone which is now in distal ureter. Can i eat carrot or drink carrot juice?

Sure: Nothing in carrot juice is relevant to kidney stone treatment. Drinking lots of water (which the kidney then eliminates) may help push the stone down the ureter.
