Magnesium: You might talk with your doctor about using a magnesium supplement such as magnesium citrate, glycinate, or malate. These are easily absorbed by your body. Unless you have kidney disease, 200mg - 400mg/day would generally be safe.

I am badly constipated. Miralax and senna do not help much. Can I take bisacodyl and docusate at the same time?

I am badly constipated. Miralax and senna do not help much. Can I take bisacodyl and docusate at the same time?

Yes.: Docusate is a stool softener, bisacodyl is a stimulant laxative, miralax is a polyethylene glycol laxative. Other options would include magnesium citrate which is a liquid bottle sold over the counter, or milk of magnesia. Other consideration would be to work from the other end with an enema like a Fleets enema. Sometimes these can be helpful for severe constipation.

In cases of severe constipation is it ok to take miralax (polyethylene glycol) twice a day?

In cases of severe constipation is it ok to take miralax (polyethylene glycol) twice a day?

More or less: Yes, MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) or peg 3350 is a safe way to introduce more water and therefore all the benefits of a stool softener into your daily routine. Most laxatives can cause painful cramps and ultimately are habit forming. If a water stool develops return to one capful daily. Remember to introduce more exercise and make time for your daily routine.
