Is It Ok To Sleep On Your Back During Pregnancy
Can't find a comfortable position to sleep during my pregnancy, any ways i can be comfortable and stay asleep, or is this truly a never ending battle?
Hard to sleep : It can be hard to get comfortable during sleep, or anything else for that matter. Sleeping on your left side is best because baby gets the most blood flow. Avoid back and obviously your stomach. Try a warm bath, warm fruit tea, or a massage before bed to help you sleep. Hope all goes well with you and baby. ...Read more

Out of nowhere I have a sore throat, rash & can't stay asleep. No fever. I'm not late but was wondering if this could be early pregnancy symptoms
Blood flow: Early on, it's not a problem. As you get toward the end and the baby and uterus is large, laying directly on back can compress mom's blood vessels (aorta and vena cava), and with that can reduce blood flow to the placenta. So it's best those last 6-8 weeks to stay off direct back and blood flow is best laying on the left side. ...Read more
You should not lay on your back during pregnancy but can the same pressure on the vena cava be caused by leaning/sitting up against a hard surface?
During pregnancy, at what point should you start sleeping on your back? At some point in the pregnancy i’ve heard that you shouldn’t sleep on your back? At what week, and why?
After : After about twenty weeks gestation, the uterus becomes large and heavy, and if you lie on your back, the heavy uterus can press against the large blood vessels- the aorta and the vena cava- that run behind the uterus. If these vessels get compressed, blood flow to the uterus may be compromised, and return of the blood from the lower extremities can be impeded. In order to maximize blood flow to the fetus and keep circulation open in the mother, it’s best to sleep on one side or the other (some say the left side is better, but don’t worry if you flip like a tuna from left to right in your sleep like i did when i was pregnant). ...Read more
