Hard to sleep : It can be hard to get comfortable during sleep, or anything else for that matter. Sleeping on your left side is best because baby gets the most blood flow. Blood flow: Early on, it's not a problem. As you get toward the end and the baby and uterus is large, laying directly on back can compress mom's blood vessels (aorta and vena cava), and with that can reduce blood flow to the placenta.
