Advil (ibuprofen): With Advil, (ibuprofen) you are allowed to take it every 6 hrs as needed, so if only using it once a day at night, it's not a big deal. There isn't a specific number of days that would make it too long. if really having discomfort, then continue to give it. ...Read more

My 9 month old daughter has cold she's coughing a lot and bcoz of phlegm she cat breath properly n also her fever is increasing i'm giving her advil (ibuprofen)?

Bacterial: I''m not sure how long these symptoms have been going on, but it is certainly possible that she has developed a secondary bacterial infection involving her ears, sinuses and/or chest. She should probably be evaluated by her doctor to determine whether she needs an antibiotic. ...Read more

Can I give my 4 year old Children's Mucinex (5ml) and children's Advil together?

No interaction: Ibuprofen can be used to treat fever if your child is very uncomfortable; not every fever needs treating (even high fever if your child looks well). I recommend avoiding cough preparations as they tend to have more side effects than beneficial effects. ...Read more

My 9 month old has a fever @ 103. Have Advil (ibuprofen) & dropped only 1 degree after 2 hours. Is this normal or cause for concern to call the dr?

Fever: Fever is a symptom not a disease. The response to an drug like tylenol (acetaminophen) or advil does not have any predictive value. What you should be asking your self is what else is happening? Rash, vomiting, diarrhea, pain, etc and concentrate on that and if that is bothering your infant, then call your dr. If not you can wait and see if the temp resolves within a day or so. If u are worried, call. ...Read more

I am nursing a one month old.can I take Advil cold and Sinus for a cold? If so, can I take it with Tylenol 3? I take one for back pain until I do xray

Advil Cold and Sinus: Advil Cold and Sinus contains pseudoephedrine which decreases breast milk supply. Avoid Advil Cold and Sinus while breastfeeding. Also avoid Tylenol #3 as it contains codeine which passes into breast milk. Okay to take plain tylenol or advil for pain. My daughter is 12months old. She's coughing and weezing mildy. Should i be worried? I've been giving her infant's advil (ibuprofen).

M.D. visit: If she is coughing and wheezing these may be signs of asthma. I would advise an evaluation and possible treatment with albuterol depending on her exam at the physician's office. As the other answer indicated if she is eating well and not in distress, she is still able to breathe comfortably and probably won't need steroids. Prmg/peds fax 858 259 9689 for ?S. ...Read more

Can I give gravel and Advil (ibuprofen) at the same time to my 2 year old child?

Can I give gravel and Advil (ibuprofen) at the same time to my 2 year old child?

Huh?: I'm not sure what you were asking. I'm sure you did not mean "gravel". However, for fever or pain, Ibuprofen and acetomenophen respectably are best and tried for many years. However, never give a the same time. I personally never recommend giving naprosyn (naproxen) to a child. You don't ever want to give naprosyn (naproxen) and Ibuprofen together. Combined will increases risk of stomach bleeds and kidney damage. ...Read more

Paediatrician asked me to give my 19 6lb baby 4 5ml children Advil (ibuprofen) but the pack says for her weight she needs 1 875ml and it a100mg 5ml is this right?

5ml of 100mg/5ml li: The dose is 4.5 milligrams per pound of body weight (for metric users, that's 10mg per kilo). For example: a 20-pound child would get about 90mg (20 x 4.5 =90mg). This comes out to one teaspoon of the children's liquid. (5ml). ...Read more
