I saw a doctor on Mon for sore throat/sinuses. He said it was viral. Since, symptoms have got worse. Now I have more phlegm & it's yellow & ear clogge?
I've been coughing for about 6 months. I feel itchiness down my throat, yellow and transparent phlegms. What can it be?
Whenever I drink or eat dairy products after a few hours, I get somewhat phlegm and smell it down my throat. What can it be?
Reason: Phlegm is the thick, sticky mucus that drips down the back of your throat when you have a cold. Although drinking milk may make phlegm thicker and more irritating to your throat than it would normally be, milk doesn't cause your body to make more phlegm. In fact, frozen dairy products can soothe a sore throat and provide calories when you otherwise may not eat. ...Read more
When I laugh a lot, I get phlegm in my throat and have to caugh to get it out. It goes away after an hour or so. Is this normal?
Every night when I lay down to go to bed I have so much throat clearing with phlegm. This only happens at night. Why? What can I do? Thank you.
Sinus problem: The most likely cause of your phlegm is where sinus content drips into your throat because when you lay down, it is easier for your sinus and nose content to drop down the back of your throat than out of your nose. This can be from allergy or infection and you describe frequent so likely allergic. The use of a nasal antihistamine or steroid would help. Check with your doctor. ...Read more

Week ago or so I had a terrible sore throat and it eventually went away but now I'm currently coughing of phlegm a lot more than normal?
Viral: This is a viral upper respiratory tract infection which has travelled to the trachea or bronchial tubes. Since over a week has transpired and you have a heavy, productive cough it no longer is a simple viral infection but now it seems bacterial and deserving of a course of antibiotics. I recommend that your physician examine you for diagnosis and treatment advice. Take adequate fluids, cough syrup ...Read more
Trouble inhaling but exhale just fine. Sometimes tho it clears up and both in and out feel normal. Phlegm in back of throat always clearing throat.
Nasal congestion: Could cause more trouble inhaling but then be less difficult to exhale because you can do that through your mouth. Could also account for phlegm. Try a nasal decongestant when this happens, and several times a day just use plain nasal spray to keep the phlegm and mucous thin and easy to get rid of. Drink lots of water also. ...Read more

My husband has post nasal drip with a lot of phlegm. He also uses adair twi ce a day. Is a camera down his throat the only way to examine him?
Unclear question: I've heard nothing here that suggests he needs an endoscopy, so I guess the short answer is no. A camera down his throat is not the only way to examine him. But if there is some other reason to examine his throat or lower airway, then endoscopy is very safe and usually the only way to look for certain abnormalities. ...Read more

Doctor can evaluate: Such symptoms may possibly due to achalasia, or other causes. One can see her primary care doctor, who can refer to a gastroenterology doctor if needed. My TSH 0.25 after eating transparent phlegm created in my throat it is worse to take breath normally, what I have to eat to get normal TSH.
TSH & levothyroxine: 1st, phlegm (regardless of color) has nothing to do w/your tsh. 2nd, what you eat (short of seaweed w/lots of iodine) won't really affect your tsh. So TSH was initially 27.95, then you were given levothyroxine (t4) 100mcg. You must've had another TSH which is why T4 was decreased to 7mcg after which point TSH is now 0.25 (3rd value), presumably higher than 2nd value. Your doc will decrease T4 more. ...Read more
My TSH is 0.25 (l)after eating my throat get irritating &phlegm stuck in my throat. Wat I have to eat to get normal. I could'nt sleep feel heavy breath?
Not related: I'm not sure if your throat issue has anything to do with your thyroid. Your TSH is low, but looks as if you just changed dose from 100-->75mcg. I bet your throat issue has more to do with allergies or asthma or some other condition. I see you are on prednisone, maybe related to that condition? See a doctor for throat and neck exam and evaluation. ...Read more

I have a fever and below normal temperature, sore throat and I am coughing up blood tinged phlegm. Pain inside right upper chest.?
Depends: An md consult would not be out of order at your age. It is likely pharyngitis or bronchial spasms secondary to a moderate respiratory infection or even allergies. I have a 7 wk old w/nasal congestion/coughing started sun nt. No fever but chokes on the phlegm going down her throat a few times ea. Hr. Hm treatment?
Nasal wash: At 7 weeks the primary cause of congestion is the environment. House dust, fragrance, perfumes, detergent or cleaning products all leave scents that may not bother you but irritate a babies nose. A good nasal clean out with saline can remove much of this irritant load, but removing the offending irritants from babies life helps more in the long run. Air particle filters can also help. ...Read more

What would cause you to have a thick clear to white mucus in your throat if sinuses and chest x-rays are normal. Only happens after eating, laying dwn?
Look at diet: Certain foods in your diet can produce phlegm, which is basically mucus. Sweet foods, chocolates, desserts, breads, pasta, anything with gluten, can do this. So you may need a clinical nutritionist to intervene, and help you. Also, not having enough hydration can potentially cause it. Work with your doctor to address this, and you'll be satisfied. ...Read more
