Removal Of Appendix (Definition)

An appendectomy is surgery to remove the appendix. The appendix is a small, finger-shaped organ extending from the first part of the large intestine. It is removed when it becomes inflamed or infected. A perforated appendix can leak and infect the entire abdominal area, which can be life-threatening. An appendectomy is done under general anesthesia, which means you are asleep and do not feel any pain during the surgery. The surgeon makes a small cut in the lower right side of your belly area ...Read more

Wrong expectation?: It's unlikely that removing your appendix (part of the GI tract) will have fixed your bladder (part of the GU tract). Time to return to your doctor & pursue further testing/treatment.

Pain with urination: No it is not normal to have pain with urination in this case. You were likely catheterized during the procedure and that can be very irritating and even increase risk for bladder infection. Drink tons of water, empty your bladder every time you even think you need to go. See your practitioner for urinalysis.

Pain after appendectomy, should I be worried if I have a hard time urinating a day after surgery?

Pain after appendectomy, should I be worried if I have a hard time urinating a day after surgery?

No: Everyone takes a different amount of time to recover from surgery. THis could be normal post op or something else brewing. Any other symptoms? fever? pain? Does it feel like your still have appendicitis? Is better than immediately after surgery? If getting worse or not improving after 2- 3 weeks you may need some testing. Ask your surgeon

Urinary Infection: Cloudy, bloody urine most often means you have a urinary tract infection. Bacteria in the urinary tract can also produce bubbles in the urine. You probably need a urinalysis and antibiotics for a urinary tract infection. You an get these via a consultation with a HealthTap provider or your own doctor. If you continue to pass air in the urine after treatment, you should get a full evaluation.

Lap & open appendectomy 3 weeks ago. Still feel pain in lower center abdomen when urinates. Drain & catheter used. Urine test shows no UTI. Reasons?

Lap & open appendectomy 3 weeks ago. Still feel pain in lower center abdomen when urinates. Drain & catheter used. Urine test shows no UTI. Reasons?

Normal: There are a variety of aches and pains that come and go during the recovery period of a traumatic event such as an abdominal operation. These will eventually fade away in the coming 6-8 weeks. May have some residual. Also very common to become fatigued easily for weeks to months, but there is high variability of this. You can always check with your surgeon as well. Hope this helps!

Have blood in urine burning pain, lower ab pains when urinating. Is it UTI? What are the home remedies? Had laparascopic appendectomy a month ago

Cystitis: These are the symptoms of hemorrhagic cystitis. Ideally you should have a urine culture then started on an antibiotic and followed till symptoms resolve. There are no home remedies. Please see a doctor. They are definitely available where you are if you had laparoscopic appendecyomy. Good luck. Does not sound serious.

Lap appendectomy 3days ago. Now, when urinating, feels like tightness/squeezing in lower left abdomen. No burning in urethra. 25 yr old female.

Maybe muscle trauma: One of the ports during appendectomy is usually placed in the left lower quadrant. During urination the abdominal muscles are tightening and the injured muscle may cause painful sensation. The other 2 ports are placed in the midline where there is no muscle.

Hello my husband had an apendectomy & I was wondering if it was normal to have blood in his urine. Not full blood but the color of blood in his urine?

Hello my husband had an apendectomy & I was wondering if it was normal to have blood in his urine. Not full blood but the color of blood in his urine?

Yes but: Yes because while he was asleep under anesthesia they inserted a catheter in his bladder and took it out before he wake up. That sometime irritate the urethra and cause the color changes in the urine. If the blood does not go away or start being associated with pain or start having fever see the doctor right away.

Hi, I had my laparoscopic appendicectomy after acute appendicitis with pelvic absces, today I have a frequent urination, is it normal? Please

Hi, I had my laparoscopic appendicectomy after acute appendicitis with pelvic absces, today I have a frequent urination, is it normal? Please

Recurrent Abscess?: Abscesses can redevelop if inadequately drained during the initial procedure. If an abscess develops adjacent to the bladder, patients will frequently complain of dysuria (pain with urination), frequency or urgency with urination. Follow up with your surgeon. They may want to obtain a repeat CT scan

I had a lap appendectomy a month ago and I have a tiny bump underneath the scar on my left. When I push or massage it, it hurts the whole side. Normal.

I had a lap appendectomy a month ago and I have a tiny bump underneath the scar on my left. When I push or massage it, it hurts the whole side. Normal.

Okay..., but...: To an extent, it's normally expected for some residual swelling usually from small expected tissue fluid such as blood. Generally speaking, it's ok and leave it alone as long as feeling less tender and smaller bumpy. It takes time with various pace among individuals. Meanwhile, try resisting the temptation to push it and minimize physical activity to strain abdominal muscles. More" ask surgeon.

Is it normal to have a burning, pulling, and painful sensation on the lower left side after appendectomy? Hurts to cough, laugh, sit up, or move

Is it normal to have a burning, pulling, and painful sensation on the lower left side after appendectomy? Hurts to cough, laugh, sit up, or move

It can be: Appendectomy can be done open or laparoscopically. If done with a laparoscope, this is sometimes an incision in the left lower abdomen that can account for pain. Sometimes the pain is due to constipation seen after surgery, and this can happen with open or lapif there associated fever or chills then I would contact your doctor to consider a cat scan tom check for postoperative infection or abscess.

Probable keloid: This sounds like they could be forming keloids. Quite often steroid injections will provide relief within a few days. Other possibilities exist so see your surgeon just to be sure it a dermatologist.

I had a laparoscopic appendectomy 3 weeks ago Thursday, and I am still having stomach pain. I hurt mainly around my belly button. Is this normal?

Post-operative pains: It is very normal to have pains at the incisions especially at the umbilicus after a laparoscopic appendectomy. As long as you have no other symptoms there should not be much of a concern.
