Have had a severe respiratory infection for four days now it has now moved to my chest and is very tight is it time for antibiotics...
Probably won't help: Most problems like this are due to viruses and antibiotics won't help. If the chest symptoms continue more than a week, or if you start coughing up large amounts of colored sputum, maybe an antibiotic would help. But usually not for shorter illnesses like yours. But check with your doctor to be safe. ...Read more

Only your PCP: Can reliably answer this; but, yes, an elevated amylase level in the context of vomiting, real-time cardiac monitoring and dyspepsia suggest GI or pancreatic issues that are concerning. I had gastric bypass surgery in 2006. I was wondering if it is normal to have green bowel movements. I have them several times a month for like the past year or so. It is most noticeable the week around my period. Is this normal?
Interesting: If occurring several times a month, not likely associated with your period (unless it is also occurring several times a month?). If no other symptoms (pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, weight loss) then reassuring. Associated with certain foods/beverages (food dyes?). Might want to keep symptom and food diary to see if link. Would also discuss with your surgeon. Hope this helps. Good luck. Dr R ...Read more
