Bruise comes and goes, same spot for 6 mo. Now on left arm. Had CBC, platelet, clotting test, cardiac workup, normal. Do not take aspirin. Thoughts?

Bruise comes and goes, same spot for 6 mo. Now on left arm. Had CBC, platelet, clotting test, cardiac workup, normal. Do not take aspirin. Thoughts?

Trauma: Brusises result from a local area of trauma to the skin. When taking anticoagulants or if clotting mechanisms are off, they help with extent of bruising but do not initiate the process. If the bruise is in the same site look for what might cause the problem like pressure against the site when sleeping or sitting at the computer. ...Read more

I have a big red spot covering my armpit that looks like its irritated. But it doesn't look like most ringworm spots. What do I do??

Show it to a doctor: A rash in the armpit could be one of several things. I would be most concerned about an abscess or a localized infection (say from shaving)-esp. If it's PAINFUL. If it's more flat and non painful it could be ringworm, a contact allergy (deodorant?), or a more mild infection called folliculitis among other things. If you have any underlying medical problems, that may help the doc to figure it out. ...Read more

My 4yr old has a small red spot on the inner side of the arm. Not raised, not itchy. Looks like a bruise but too small to be?

Possible bite.: Depending on how long it has been there, it could still be a bruise, although if it is bright red, it sounds like a broken capillary (small blood vessel) or possibly spider bite. To be sure, you should show his doctor. If there are many of them appearing, you should call his doctor and/or take him to the emergency room ASAP, as that could be a sign of a more serious illness. ...Read more

Keratoses or Plaques: It would be interesting to note if these spots or rough or smooth; if they have changed shape or color; or have hair growing out of them.
