Is It Normal To Have An Ovary Removed After A Ruptured Cyst
If I have a cyst on my ovary does that mean I have ovulated? If it causes discomfort but hasn't ruptured is that normal?
Normal to have cyst: Most women if you were to look at their ovaries, will have some small cysts or follicles on their ovaries. In ovulation your ovary will make an even bigger cyst (12-20mm in diameter). Sometimes women notice when they ovulate (mittelschmerz), sometimes not. Rarely a small cyst can grow bigger and fill with fluid. Ovaries can make cysts from 3cm to 20cm, even bigger. What you describe=normal. ...Read more
A cyst is a structure or mass that consists of a cellular lined sac. It is typically filled with fluid but may be filled with solid material. It can be congenital, traumatic, or acquired. They may develop nearly anywhere in the body and usually require complete excision for eradication or they are likely to recur. Fluid filled sacs that are not cellular lined ...Read more
What hapens if benign serous cystdenoma rupture during surgery 4, 1x3, 7x3, 7cm cyst be removed without removing the ovary?
You keep asking: You seem to keep asking the same question in a different way. Seems like you need to chat with your surgeon. But the cyst can be drained at surgery, or removed at surgery. Talk with your surgeon - you are paying them to do this and they need to answer your questions completely. ...Read more
5 days ago I had a cyst rupture on my ovary. I ran a fever with severe pain. Now I'm bleeding. Is this normal. Not due for a cycle for 12 more days?
I was just diagnosed with a normal 1.7cm ovarian cyst on my right ovary via ultra sound. Is it safe if it ruptures?
Sort of...: It can be very painful as the abdomen does not like any other fluid in it! Not blood (why a tiny amount of endometriosis is so painful), and not cyst fluid. Might be smart to talk to doc about emergency pain meds in case you have to come to the er. It also depends on the cyst-it could have just been a ruptured follicle. If you ever get severe low abdominal pain, go to er-let them know it's there. ...Read more
I'm not on birth control but my dr said every month a cyst will rupture on one of my ovaries. Does this cause infertility? Or is it normally ok?
This is normal: The cyst that develops is what allows the egg to move to the outer edge of the ovary and be released to enter the fallopian tube. The cyst is only a problem if it becomes big enough to cause pain and does not rupture or the fluid released when it does rupture irritates the lining of your abdomen, called the peritoneum. ...Read more
I have a hemorrhagic cyst on my left ovary. It has not ruptured. I have a thick white discharge that has tested negative for yeast. Normal with cyst?
Unrelated: Discharge isn't really related to cysts. If you have a hemoraghic cyst you are probably in the luteal phase of your menstrual cycle (the second half of the monthly cycle), and cervical mucous can be thicker at that point in the cycle. If there is itching or burning or bad smell, its not related at all and you should see your doc to better figure it out. ...Read more
I had a hysterectomy in 2012 but have my ovaries. I've been having abdominal psin and was told ruptured cyst, I've seen no blood. Is this normal?
Still active ovaries: Your ovaries are still present and functioning and can produce ovulatory functional cysts that can "rupture" and cause abdominal pain. If an ultrasound or exam showed the ovarian cyst when you had the abdominal pain and then "ruptured" and the pain spontaneously went away-Great! There will not be vaginal blood present until possibly later if estrogen withdrawal post cyst bleeding occurs. ...Read more

I think I had a ruptured cyst. This is my fourth day bleeding with very bad pain in my lower left pelvis. Is this normal? Can it be cancer? Almost 18.
See a doctor ASAP: This sounds like a serious infection, maybe pelvic inflammatory disease (PID), which is usually due to chlamydia or gonorrhea. PID can lead to an abscess that can drain into the uterus or vagina. Regardless of cause, you need to be professionally evaluated immediately, with the likelihood of needing antibiotics and maybe even hospitalization and/or surgery. Good luck! ...Read more

Variable: The process of having monthly, 'regular' menstrual cycles (when not on birth control) requires the production and ovulation (or release/rupture of a physiologic cyst every single month). Usu. It doesn't cause much if any pain (twinges/sharp). When someone gets a larger than normal cyst that ruptures, or if it ruptures through a blood vessel causing bleeding-can cause intense, sharp, 1sided pain. ...Read more

I've been told at that ER that I have a cyst on my ovary, it ruptures every month been happening a little over a year will this cause eternal problems?
Benign cyst: Assuming that you do not have a condition called polycystic ovary disease, cyst rupture is generally a benign condition and quite normal in the menstrual cycle;however, if accompanied by severe pain and heavy bleeding you will need a gyn pelic exam and ultrasound. Usually over the counter nsaids (advil/aleve) will reduce discomfort. ...Read more
Blood in the belly: The rupture of a sizable ovarian cyst usually releases a specific quantity of blood into the belly that will settle through gravity to the deep inferior pelvis. This happens on a small scale with ovulation. The blood is irritating to the abdominal contents & can produce pain that persists in any position but is worse in some. An ultrasound can locate the blood & eliminate worry about other probs. ...Read more

Depends: Usually pain occurs when they rupture and release follicular fluid and they may bleed a little. Pain associated with torsion is usually very severe and often associated with nausea and vomiting. ...Read more
