Could be: Classic gerd should respond to a bland low fat diet and taking a medication like prilosec or nexium (esomeprazole). You may have other disorders like esophageal spasm, eosinophilic esophagitis, bile reflux all of which aren't often helped by the above treatments. Yes, esp in AM: Yes, a chronic cough is 1 of the signs of acid reflux. Also, post-nasal drip (allergies), asthma, & lung problems could cause similar symptoms. These conditions cd be excluded by a good doctor asking questions & perhaps some basic testing. Without knowing more, it's hard to say which condition is causing the cough.
