How long should I wait to have a tummy tuck afterc section and what do u tjthink about tummy tucks (witch hazel)?

It depends: I perform a significant number of tummy tucks (witch hazel) each year for my young mothers and feel that this is a great procedure when done by a qualified plastic surgeon with experience in this area.

I generally recommend waiting a few months following a c-section so that soft tissue swelling has gone done and your hormones have returned to a more natural state. Read more

Yes: Tummy tucks (witch hazel) or adominoplasty is great at rejuvenating the post oartum abdomen. This procedure will realign your rectis muscles in the midline limiting the diastasis typically created by your pregnancy as well as remove excess skin laxity and unsitely stretch marks. Remember, however, if you plan to having more children this will typically recur. Read more

Is it normal to feel bloated after a tummy tuck and a liposuction?

Yes: The boated feeling following a tummy is usually the result of several things:
1. Tightening of the abdominal wall (which then makes any bloating more noticeable)
2. Side effects of medications given around the time of surgery
3. Hormonal changes associated with the trauma of the surgery itself.

The good news is that most bloating resolves quickly and has no untoward effects on your result. Read more

I had a tummy tuck 5 yrs ago. They put my belly button back. Is it normal for my belly button to keep getting infected?

Cyst or suture: Although delayed healing of the umbilicus is very common, once healed it will usually stay closed. Prolonged wound drainage may be an indication of a cyst or suture abscess for infection of permanent sutures used to repair the diastasis. If this does not respond to a course of antibiotics, removal of the suture could be a simple solution to your problem. Read more

I had a tummy tuck about two years ago, is it normal for my abdomen to feel that is retaining water and when I touch it I feel the water move?

No: What you are describing is not “normal”. Based on your description, you may be dealing with a fluid accumulation such as a seroma. It's been a month after my sergury (tummy tuck) is it normal for my abdomen to feel that is retaining water and when I touch it I feel the water move?

Seromas are annoying: If you can see your doctor in a few days its ok to wait... If not, you will need to find a local surgeon to remove the fluid. The liquid in a seroma is slowing down your healing by preventing the skin from adhering to the underlying muscles so you should get it taken care of soon. Read more

Absolutely Normal: This is absolutely normal. For tummy tucks, I use pain pumps to help ease the pain in the immediate post-op period after surgery. I had a tummy tuck almost 3 weeks ago and I have a lot of fluid built up in my stomach. Where can I get it drained? I had this procedure in the dominican republic. Everyone is telling me that no doctor will drain it here because I didn't have it done here

The: The name for fluid that builds up in the abdominal area after a tummy tuck is called a seroma. If not drained, not only can it cause discomfort, but it can become a chronic problem, where the the abdminal skin doesn't adhere to the abdominal wall. This is called a bursa, in the worst case scenario, a seroma can become infected, leading to abscess formation and tissue loss.
This exemplifies one of the down-sides of seeking plastic surgery outside of your community. As well, your health insurance is unlikely to cover any costs related to this complication. Most surgeons would care for this as part of routine postoperative care, had they performed the original surgery, provided you were compliant with your instructions.
I would suggest that you locate a board certified plastic surgeon in your area. Be honest about what happened. You may need needle drainage or replacement of a drain. I am sure someone will help you, but please be prepared for additional expenses. Read more

I had a tummy tuck 11 months ago and stil have total numbness, bloating, lower back pain and can hardly eat anything. Is this normal?

Of course not: Not sure what you mean by "total numbness, " but long lasting numbness of the central area of your abdomen just above the incision is normal. Hard to understand how a tummy tuck could cause "bloating, " lower back pain or decreased appetite to the degree you describe. Talk to your plastic surgeon or medical doctor ASAP. Read more
