Phasing out of effxr XR so my dr has me on 75 mg and 10 mg celexa (citalopram). First 3 weeks were great and now feeling depressed/anxious. Just a few off days or is this normal? Next week i start 37.5 efx, 15 cel
Cross-taper: In a cross-taper (stepdown one mediciine to change, in steps, to another), there is the risk that one will temporarily lose the effective of medication. 75 mg of venlafaxine is very low -- you've lost any benefit; 10 of citalopram is very low. Most people need 20 to 40 mg of citalopram for it to work.See 2 more doctor answers
Yes: It is definitely one of the most popular doses of celexa; and it is ok for you if your dr prescribed it this way. Best wishes.
I normally take 20mg of celexa (citalopram) a day. I accidentally took an extra pill today. Is this harmful?
Extra Pill today: It will not be harmful. You just start tomorrow taking your regular dose. There should be no worries.

Is it normal to have diarrhea after taking very 1st dose of 10mg of celexa (citalopram)? Took at 7pm. Had diarrhea at 6am
Very common, alas: Transient diarrhea happens after one starts medications of this class. Most times the GI upset dissipates; if it doesn't, the rx trial may be a 'bust' despite any efficacy it provides.
Yes: Most side effects 'happen early' and go away in time; if it doesn't go away then tell your md about this for ? Change in medication or consider an infection.
Celexa (citalopram): Celexa side effects can include: nausea, loose stools, constipation, dry mouth, stomach upset, sexual dysfunction, insomnia, sedation, ^ urination, sweating, ^ or v in weight, nasal congestion, sore throat or cough. This is not a complete list. But, you might not have any side effects with celexa. It is generally tolerated well.
Celexa (citalopram): This is called the black box warning, which occasionally occurs in depressed people on antidepressants. You need to consult your prescribing doctor right away.
Have titrated from 40 mg to 20mg celexa (citalopram). After a day or 2, i'm feeling better than ever. Lot's of energy. Is this normal when going off of ads?
Not unusual: Particularly when taken in am, citalopram specifically may cause feeling tired. You are right in that if therapy works, you can start consulting your psychiatrist about weaning slowly including xanax (alprazolam) which also has depression and fatigue listed as side effects (not to mention dependency in long term). Not all antidepressants make you feel tired though. Ask your dr. Good luck.See 1 more doctor answer
I have been on 30 mg celexa (citalopram) for 2 weeks and I experience body inside tremors. I never had them before. Is it normal and will they go away? Thanks
Trial period : I'd give it 2-3 weeks and if not spontaneously resolving then would stop that medication and approach your physician about other options. Hope all goes well!
Can happen: Celexa (citalopram), like other ssri antidepressants, can either enhance or interfere with sleep. It depends on the person. I usually tell patients to take ssris in the morning (not at bedtime) to minimize any such effects. Even so, insomnia can still occur. Talk with the prescribing doctor about alternatives if this is an ongoing problem.

I started celexa (citalopram) 5mg 2 nights ago. Are nausea and headache normal this early on? I just wanted to feel better and i feel worse.
Answer: Those side effects are not common. But medications act differently on each person. If you continue to have these side effects i would recommend to stop using it and ask your doctor for an alternative medication.See 1 more doctor answer
Been on celexa (citalopram) 20mg for 3 months. First 2 months i was on 10mg. If doc tampers me off will there be withdrawal? And how long would last?
Taper slowly.: I usually taper it by 5 mg every week or every other week and then i don't generally run into discontinuation symptoms. Have a merry christmas.
SSRI and sex drive: One of the well-known side effects of all ssri drugs, including citalopram (celexa) is decreasing libido, decreasing erectile function, and increasing the time before orgasm is achieved. These effects do not occur in all patients taking the drug, but they are common and well-known. If this is a large concern, talk to your doctor about other antidepressant options and side-effect profiling.
