Viral vs. bacterial: The condition may be tonsillitis or pharyngitis (if you have no tonsills). Usually viral, but strep throat is a common thing as well. Usually presents without cough, but may cause fever and swollen lymph nodes. If plain tylenol/ibuprofen fails to help and especially if fever lasts >3 days, go see you doc. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My throat is really painful if i gulp water or other drink. Normal swallowing is fine. It's not a sore throat type pain but it feels intense.
Sore throat : If you have any other signs and symptoms of a cold, then you could have an infection. If not an infection, then the next most like problem is reflux. Try an anti reflux med like over the counter Pepcid ac or zantac (ranitidine). Longer term you can take Prilosec (omeprazole) once or twice a day. Try this first for a week then see a doctor if no improvement good luck. ...Read more

For the last few days I've had a hard to describe feeling in my left ear kinda feels like water but not really. And then when I swallow the left side of my throat hurts and I get somewhat of itchy to stinging feeling in the same ear. I've tried tyle?
Pain radiating: Pain from the throat frequently radiates to the ears. I would recommend focusing more on why the throat hurts rather than the ear. You can visualize the throat much better than the ear without a doctor. Regardless, maybe your doctor or an urgent care may lead you in the right direction. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have pain around my eye, cheekbone area. Not red eye or watering. Sore throat, hurts to swallow, node in my neck is extremely tender. What is it?
Viral pharyngitis: This sounds like standard viral pharyngitis. If you have high fever (over 101), white patches in the throat, or swollen tender lumps in your neck or under the jaw, see your doctor to get checked for other things, like strep throat. Otherwise no worries; it should get better soon. In the meantime, if severe pain try aspirin or acetaminophen and/or benzocaine lozenges (e.g. Cepacol and others). ...Read more
Whenver i wake up i feel very thirsty and i feel my throat is sore why is that happening to me?? And yea i drink water before i sleep.
Few possibilities: Chronic sore throat is usually one of a few different things. Allergies causing a post nasal drip. Acid reflux can cause this as well. Make sure you are not laying down after eating. Thirst usually depends on your water intake and electrolyte balance. I would keep track of your diet and water intake in a diary and show that to your doctor. ...Read more

The right side of my throat hurts and also hurts to swallow but it looks normal no white dots or inflammation . Been happening for 3 days on and off?
One possibility: A common cause of throat soreness without evidence of infection is gerd or gastroesophageal reflux disease, a fancy name for heart burn. "silent gerd" can happen at night time when gravity isn't keeping stomach acid in your stomach it can travel up into your throat and cause irritation. An acid blocker like ranitidine or Pepcid (famotidine) taken before bed might be good to try. ...Read more

Back of throat hurts. Not like a normal sore throat. Doesn't hurt to swallow but just all the time. Weird discomfort. I'm worried about std.
My throat hurts when I swallow or even sometimes when I move my tongue. Everything inside my mouth looks normal to me except that my uvula is now pointy. This has been going on for at least a couple days.
This is a simple: sore throat. The uvula has a muscle within in it which can contract or relax allowing the posterior pharynx (throat) to change shape providing protection from swallowing mishaps: not too concerning if it looks different. Most sore throats are viral and will resolve in a few days; gargling with salt water, soothing liquids, ibuprofen, hydration help. If fever, white spots, worsening, see Doc. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

The middle of my throat hurts so much, including my right arm, and sometimes back hurts, i can't swallow. Im not ill. What could it be and how can i possibly cure it? Thanks in advance!
Concept of Illness: does not make sense; illness, be it at whatever level or combination of levels of Soul?Mind?Brain?Body, is lack of easy/rapid adaptability to different situations without much internal distraction by pain & other functional issues. "Cure" mostly fantasy; far better focus is working/leaning to understand the above, including basic anatomy for problem shooting. Your primary physician is yourself. ...Read more
