There is: CARTILAGE there ...a part of the JOINT that exists between your sternum and the front part of your ribs!! This is the same as "cracking" your KNUCKES! Rib pain: Need to know what happen to your sternum; what evaluation was done (exam, x rays etc); what medication were given etc.; what is your medical history. Ribs fractures are notorious for having lots of pain (maily sharp) which is frustrating. Fracture could take 6 weeks to heal.
