Is It Normal For One Leg Is Cold After A Sprained Ankle
Sprained ankle 2 weeks-stage 2. Lately they've been a little cold, is this normal? Causes? Are there chances of permanent damage? Will it fix itself?
Swelling: Typically people will have considerable swelling after an ankle sprain. This engorgement is often perceived as "warmth." after the swelling diminishes the perception is now the area is cold. The "environment" just has to normalize and so will the temperature.

One week post ankle sprain. Swelling pain and bruises still there. New symptom is burning sensation. Is this normal? What causes this?
Likely normal: It can take a few weeks before the swelling and bruising completely subside. The burning sensation is likley sign of local nerves being under pressure from the excess blood and swelling in and around the ankle joint. This should also subside as the other symptoms due. If the burning sensation, swelling, bruising are worsening would suggest seeing your doctor.See 2 more doctor answers

I've had my leg in a splint for a week following a sprained ankle, it was removed today, now my lower leg/foot is cold to the touch, what would cau?
Concerned doctor: Are there any other symptoms such as redness, sweating, altered sensations? There's always a concern about regional pain syndrome in setting of trauma. Could just be due to the resolving edema and swelling from the sprain. Keep it elevated and try to move the ankle to prevent stiffness. Stay off it as much as possible.
Sprained ankle 5/2 felt something snap the other day pain unbearable non weight bearing xray normal pain moving up the leg to just under the knee
More eval/testing: With that type of pain, you will benefit from a very detailed exam to uncover the cause of your symptoms. It's difficult to advise you of the potential problem with this very brief description. If x-rays are normal and the diagnosis is in doubt, then an MRI is often the next best test. For now, it sounds like crutches while upright, rest, ice and elevation would be wise before seeing a physician.
Early treatment: Depending on the extent of the injury and the early treatment provided, typically an ankle sprain may take 4-6 weeks to heal. If the ankle ligaments are not damaged, and there is no internal injury to the ankle, and with active physical therapy, the time can even be shortened. Of course prevention of re-injury is imperative. An ankel brace may be very valuable.See 1 more doctor answer
Ice is best: Ice is best in the first 24-72 hours following an ankle sprain. This helps decrease the swelling and inflammation which in turn decreases the pain. Do not leave the ice on for more than 15-20minutes. Use a towel to protect your skin against the ice. This can be repeated several x day. Price (protection, rest, ice, compression, and elevation). *if pain continues or worsens please see your doctor.See 1 more doctor answer
Many possibilities: There are many things that could cause the skin to itch. Several types of inflammatory conditions of the skin, allergic reactions, and sometimes bacterial, viral or fungal infections can cause rashes on the skin. Insect bites can also be the cause of a rash on the skin. Have it evaluated by a professional and get the appropriate treatment.See 1 more doctor answer
Depends on: Severity of the sprain. If no ligament damage, swelling should reduce in a month. But ligament tears may swell for 3 months. If swells present for a long time you need to seek help. Other injurys include cartilage damage or deep bone bruise and tear of syndesmosis, the tissue between the tibia and fibula. Mri may be necessary to evaluate ligament tears and cartilage damage.See 1 more doctor answer

Sprained ankle nearly 3 months ago after 6 weeks seemed to heal and return to normal over the past week swelling and pain has returned?
Get rechecked: Just because the ankle feels better after 6 weeks, it still needs to be conditioned to get back up to it's pre-injury strength. You may have re-injured the area or may have something new going on. Have it rechecked.See 1 more doctor answer
Sprained ankle pretty badly 8 weeks ago. While pain is improving and I'm almost walking normally, my ankle still swells up during the day, is that OK?
Yes: It's very common to have increasing swelling throughout the day for weeks or months after an injury to the soft tissues. Gravity is your enemy; put it up high whenever you can. A wrap during the day is ok too.See 1 more doctor answer
