My baby is 5 days old. He prefer to drink from my right breast than left. He also drink only 10 minutes and then sleep for 4-5 hours. Is it normal?
It happens: Some babies prefer one side to the other. It can be the comfort they feel while you hold them in that position.Sometimes altering your hold and always starting on the less preferred side will improve the situation. The breast yields 85% within 5 & almost all within 10min. If the breast is producing enough to grow baby will sleep well after a feed. ...Read more
There are days when my 1month old baby won't sleep more than an hour, then she will cry then sleep then cry, is that normal?
Sleep irregularity: Infants basically are only aware of the awake mode. They will not understand or appreciate sleep until later. They will get sleep as their body demands it but it is up to their caretakers to help them get into a productive sleep routine.Limiting day naps to 2hrs & feeding as they awaken helps set a schedule.Comforting settings, no rocking, soft light, all help babies go down. ...Read more

Is it normal for a almost 4 month old baby to sleep 6-9 hours straight? My Breastfed daughter started sleeping more lately and I thought they had to eat more frequently.
Feel lucky: By three months many have a more mature sleep pattern. They usually do not go 9 hrs without a brief stirring but they may not awaken to eat if they consume enough during the day to meet their needs. Some parents see this happen within the first month if they don't feed as part of the sleep ritual.A kid who learns to go down without a full stomach doesn't scream for a feed to resettle in the night ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My daughter who is 14 weeks can sleep 9 hours at night and i wonder if it's bad to go that long without eating? Is this normal for babys this age?
As the old saying...: As the old saying goes, "never wake a sleeping baby." that means a parent should feel blessed to have a normal healthy baby who sleeps all night after age 3 months. (however, if a baby suffers medical or developmental problems, her pediatrician can give customized advice on sleeping habits.). ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My six weeks baby.likes to sleep in a pillow I'm afraid about her neck but she falls asleep easily and sleeps more than two hours, is it okay!
High risk of SIDS: Sleeping on a pillow has been found to pose a higher risk for sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). While the risk of this happening is still small, it is certainly more with pillow use. I don't know if I would take that risk to get some extra sleep. She will learn to sleep well without use of the pillow - she just needs a little more time to accommodate to that. ...Read more

My baby boy is 7 weeks old and has been sleeping a lot more through the day and eating less. Just wanting to know if this is normal?
Checkup: He is due for his 8wk check up; so as long as he is not obviously dehydrated take him in on an appt for routine followup and get him weighed; be sure to bring your concerns up and make sure all is well. It is normal to sleep alot; but as long as your baby is getting enough food and fluids his weight should be fine and a good indicator of how well he is doing. ...Read more

Sounds normal: Yes, iugr babies can fave feeding issues, but it is probably not contributing to problems 6 months from delivery. If your child is growing appropriately by weight, length, and head circumference, than there is nothing to worry about. If not, you should consult your pediatrician. If growing well, just be grateful that your child has a healthy "full button" and will avoid over-eating. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
