My eyes are completely bloodshot and a little sore. Is it normal for my eyes to be like this the first time wearing contacts?

NO: The problem may be you wore them too long for the first time, they are not fitting correctly or you have a dry eye condition that became aggravated by the lenses. Suggest you follow up with the doctor who prescribed the lenses to find the cause of your problem. The lenses should be evaluated while in your eyes to determine the correct fit. ...Read more

When I move my eyes while looking at a white screen, I see red green and blue flash where it was. Is this bad or can it be due to anxiety?

When I move my eyes while looking at a white screen, I see red green and blue flash where it was. Is this bad or can it be due to anxiety?

Not bad at all: This is totally normal - after-image - it's the way our eyes/visual brain work. Any color 'opposite' - red/green, blue/yellow, cyan/magenta will do it. With light, the opp of white is rainbow - not black - that why you get colors. Nothing's wrong - anxiety doesn't cause it and you can save medical anxiety for another day. http://scienceblogs.com/twominds/2009/07/01/color-after-image-demonstratio/ ...Read more

Hemorrhoid?: Hemorrhoids can be itchy. You should probably just go get it checked out. There's no way to know what it is without having someone look at it when it's bothering you.. I know it can be embarrassing to have this looked at, but that's what doctors are for. ...Read more

Is it normal for my eyes to get watery when I look at a computer screen for a long time?

Is it normal for my eyes to get watery when I look at a computer screen for a long time?

You bet!: When we stare at something for a long time (computer screen, book, wall) we decrease the amount of blinking per minute. Blinking pushes water on the eye (reverse windshield wiper) to coat it. When you don't blink, the eye dries and sends a signal to the tear gland to produce more tears in order to protect the eye. It is a sign that you are staring too long. Try a break or artificial tears. ...Read more

I always have red eyes when i take photos, without fail. Always has a light in my eye. Is this something I should check up on or is it normal?

Red eye on photos: I assume you are talking about the 'red eye' that occurs when flash photography is taken. If so, newer cameras have the pre-flash light that constricts the pupils to diminish the red eye. Also avoiding photos in darker environments will help decrease your red eye. The red is what the camera sees when the flash light reflects back off of your retina. ...Read more

Scleral icterus: Whites of eyes aren't always white in everyone. Scleral icterus is yellowing of whites of eyes and can be a sign of liver problems, especially if you notice jaundice (yellow-tinged skin), cola-colored urine and/or clay-colored stool. Good idea to discuss concerns w/your Family Doc especially if you have 2 or more of above, or change from baseline. ...Read more

Probably not: Sounds like a broken blood vessel called a subconjunctival hemorrhage. It is somewhat similar to a black and blue mark and should resolve over the next 5-10 days. If it does not resolve, or if you develop significant pain in the eye or a change in your vision, you should consult your eye doctor. ...Read more

After exercise I have a very red face except for a very pale white ring around my mouth. Is this something to be concerned about?

After exercise I have a very red face except for a very pale white ring around my mouth. Is this something to be concerned about?

NOT USUALLY: Redness in the face, with pallor around the mouth, is normal for some people after exercise. This is the result of increased blood flow to the face in an attempt by the body to cool itself. Usually the body cools itself through sweating, but not everyone has the same number of sweat glands. So, increased flushing may compensate for such reduction. Fyi, it may be exacerbated in rosacea + menopause. ...Read more

Is it normal for my newborn to be constantly eating at night?
